Early in your Hytale journey, you're going to need weapons. While you might just want to explore, gather some resources, and build the base you and your friends have envisioned for your Hytale multiplayer sessions, Hytale still features dangerous mobs that can strike at any minute. You'll need a way to defend yourself and even defeat those mobs, as they can drop some valuable materials that you need for other recipes.
Hytale offers a linear weapon progression system that lets you craft more advanced weapons as you discover rarer resources. However, learning the crafting recipes for those weapons, figuring out what they are, and even how to upgrade them are all things you need to know before you can really start exploring your map.
There are several different types of weapons in Hytale, and each of these types has several different variants that use specific resources. As you progress, you can upgrade your weapons to utilize rarer and rarer resources, which increases a weapon's strength and durability.

Below, you can see all of the weapons we currently know of in Hytale and the crafting recipe to make them. Before you can actually craft a weapon, though, you need a Blacksmith's Anvil, and you can see the crafting recipe for that in our guide on all Hytale Workbenches.
Shortbows
Crossbow
Swords
Daggers
Battleaxes
Maces
Staffs
One major thing you'll notice with this weapon list is that it seems fairly basic. If you've played Creative Mode in Hytale, you've likely seen weapons such as the Rifle, Void Scythe, Onyxium Battleaxe, and many other ultra-rare options. While you're free to use these in Creative, it appears as though they are not available in Survival Mode yet. At least, no one has figured out how to acquire these weapons, if they are obtainable in Survival.
As Hytale goes further into early access, new weapons should be added to the game, and if they're in Survival with a crafting recipe, we'll add them to the list.
Everyone in Hytale will likely start out with some kind of Crude weapon, like a sword or mace. This is the most basic form of a weapon, and it's extremely easy to craft.
Over time, as you use the weapon, it will degrade and eventually become worthless in combat. To repair a weapon in Hytale, all you have to do is craft a Repair Kit. A Repair Kit is crafted at a regular Workbench using the following recipe:
Once you craft a Repair Kit, you can use it on any weapon that's been degraded, and the weapon will return to full durability.
Now, when it comes to upgrading weapons so you can make use of rarer resources, that's another story. To do that, you need to level up your Blacksmith's Anvil. A level one Blacksmith's Anvil can craft Crude, Copper, and Iron weapons, a level two anvil can craft Thorium and Cobalt weapons, and finally a level three anvil can craft Adamantite and Mithril weapons.
You can head to the Blacksmith's Anvil to see its current level and what you need to do to level it up. The anvil and all other Workbenches require a large number of resources to level up.
It'll take some time to level up all of your Workbenches in Hytale, but focusing on the anvil at the start is a good way to keep up with your progression. By the time you have Copper weapons, you should be ready to level up the anvil to level two so you can upgrade your weapons to Thorium. However, even if you lag behind a little bit, the anvil is relatively simple to level up. For example, the level two Blacksmith's Anvil requires the following resources:
Getting into the process of crafting, repairing, and upgrading weapons will become a part of your daily routine as you learn how to play Hytale.
