The Winter Offensive update went live in Battlefield 6 on December 9, bringing new content and a limited-time event. Unfortunately, the update also added a host of issues that affected gameplay. The problems were so severe that the developer has now postponed Battlefield 6's $1 million tournament series for Redsec and outlined the fixes planned for future updates.
The Winter Offensive update caused a wide variety of issues across all platforms, with bugs related to the Breakthrough and Portal modes, as well as performance issues with stuttering on PC. There was even a main menu issue that prevented some players from selecting and playing game modes.
The developer has responded with a new community update post, which details known issues as well as new updates planned to release before the holidays.
According to the post, several issues have already been addressed via hotfixes. This includes a fix for tier skips not working on the Winter Offensive event pass, corrected XP rewards for daily challenges, and previously incorrect ticket counts for Conquest mode. It also resolves an issue with player movement momentum and a bug that caused players to remain stuck in the air viewing their aircraft.
Other remaining issues will be addressed in future updates. PC players can expect an update to arrive on December 12 to address the game's micro stuttering issue as well as improvements to the main menu and the firing range. Console players won't get an update until December 15, but this will include similar improvements for the main menu and the firing range.
Additionally, the technical difficulties led to the decision to postpone the Battlefield Redsec Elite Series. The tournament was set to host pros and emerging talent in a $1 million battle royale series, but it has now been delayed without a new launch date given.
"We're truly sorry for the disruption this causes," the developer says. "Your time, passion, and commitment have meant everything to this series, and we don't take that lightly."
The developer also says it "remains fully committed" to the Battlefield Redsec Elite Series and more details will be shared in the new year.
The Winter Offensive update includes winter-themed map variant, a new event pass, melee weapon, and more.
