Big Cyberpunk 2077 Updates Were Thought To Be Done, But 2.3 Patch Launches Soon

CD Projekt Red has pledged even more ongoing support for Cyberpunk 2077, saying it has at least one more patch in the works for the popular RPG.

As part of CD Projekt Red's latest RedStreams event, senior community manager Alicja Kozera said the studio is continually asked if it will release more DLC or updates for Cyberpunk 2077. It remains to be seen if there is any new content in the works, but the game is indeed getting a big new update, 2.3, at the end of June.

CD Projekt Red had previously indicated that Cyberpunk 2077's 2.2 update would be the last big update, but that's no longer the case. "The last one wasn't the last one," Kozera said.

CD Projekt's Marcin Momot added, "We're not done yet!"

The 2.3 update is slated to launch on June 26, but as of yet, there is no word as to what's in it. In any event, Momot said CD Projekt Red will share more information soon. "So for now, we ask for a bit more patience. Let the team cook!"

CD Projekt Red's Pawel Sasko, meanwhile, chimed in to say, "We have been cooking for you in secret for a bit. As usual, I'm taking care of the update personally and we will communicate more, when it's ready. Much love chooms."

Cyberpunk 2077 launched in December 2020 in a rough state, but that didn't stop the game from selling 13.7 million copies in just a few weeks to become instantly one of the best-selling RPGs in history. CD Projekt Red patched and improved the experience over the years, culminating in the 2.0 update that served as re-launch of sorts for the game. The Phantom Liberty expansion starring Idris Elba came out in September 2023, and the game has now sold more than 30 million copies.

A sequel, Cyberpunk 2, is now in development, though the majority of CD Projekt Red's staffers are focused on The Witcher 4 at the time being.

Most recently, CD Projekt Red launched Cyberpunk 2077 for the Nintendo Switch 2. Getting the game to run on Nintendo's console wasn't as challenging as the studio had anticipated.
