CoD: Warzone And MW3 Season 4 Reloaded Adds Mutant Abilities And Lego-Styled MP Mode

Call of Duty's Season 4 Reloaded update arrives to Modern Warfare 3, Warzone, and Warzone Mobile on June 26, and Activision has revealed what players can expect for the midseason update. This includes a change to Warzone's Urzikstan map, a Lego brick-styled multiplayer mode, and the return of MW3's popular G3T_H1GH parkour experience.

The start of Season 4 added a mysterious DNA bomb to Urzikstan and tasked players with collecting DNA strands across multiplayer, Zombies, and Warzone. Now, Season 4 Reloaded introduces the Altered Strain event, which includes various game modes and playlists themed around mutations and special powers.

The update also adds two more weapons to the arsenal with the sledgehammer melee weapon and the Reclaimer 18 shotgun. These weapons will be available to unlock for free with in-game challenges.

For Modern Warfare 3, the midseason update delivers two more core 6v6 multiplayer maps. Incline is a brand-new map themed as a snowy outpost map set in the mountains of Warzone's Urzikstan. The second map is Das Gross, a gory reskin of the popular Das Haus map.

The new Mutation playlist will include a mosh pit of MW3 game modes, with matches featuring one team of humans against a selection of "mutants." Teams switch sides at halftime, allowing each person to play as both human and mutant. The team with the highest score wins.

For this new mode, humans are regular operators with standard multiplayer loadouts, but they'll receive a buff to their ammo count. Mutants won't have traditional loadouts, but they will possess unique abilities to stun, disorient, and eliminate enemy humans, and they'll have NPC mutants to increase their numbers in the match.

Another playlist featured in Season 4 Reloaded is Bit Party, which turns the map and operators into a retro blocky style that looks like everything is made of Lego bricks. In this playlist, eliminating enemies inflates a player's blocky head and getting eliminated will reset the head size back to small.

While having a larger head makes players an easier target, it also gives them objective bonuses in Bit Party. The larger the player's head, the more points are earned for eliminating enemies in Team Deathmatch, picking up tags in Kill Confirmed, holding the objective in Hardpoint, and it makes the flags capture faster in Domination.

Other multiplayer modes include a headshots-only TDM playlist, Blueprint Gunfight, and the return of MW2's Havoc mode, which is a TDM variant that rotates random game modifiers throughout the match.

Lastly, players can expect the return of the popular G3T_H1GH parkour LTM from this year's 420 event. The mode is updated as G3T_H1IGH3R, which features a new map and rewards to earn, including three new weapon camos.

For Zombies, players won't receive a new story mission this season, but the update does introduce "Unstable Rifts" to the map. These new rifts let players fight waves of zombies to clear it, and the benefit of completely clearing an Unstable Rift is the reward of immediate refreshes on all weapon and schematic cooldowns.

Warzone finally sees a map update for Season 4 Reloaded. The DNA Bomb at Popov Power has detonated, which opens new pathways and spills a toxic chemical on the map. The blog teases that new areas should be explored, but some parts of the plant are now more dangerous to loot.

Keeping with the mutation theme, Warzone features a new Mutation Resurgence Quads limited-time playlist. This features normal Resurgence game rules at the Popov Power section of Urzikstan, but players will be able to gain the following mutated abilities:

  • Bioshield: Creates a protective bubble that blocks incoming damage but allows players to shoot out from within this sphere
  • Divebomb: Rocket into the air, then dive towards a target. On impact any nearby enemies are damaged and pushed back
  • Mutant Leap: Perform a charged jump that covers vast distances
  • Toxic Stim Cloud: Deploy a poisonous cloud that inflicts damage to enemies and boosts their squadmates speed for a short duration
  • Sludge Sling: Toss sludge grenades that explode into a toxic gas cloud on impact. The gas slows and damages enemies over time
  • Mutant Cloak: Turn partially invisible for a short time. Players leave green footprints while cloaked
  • Mutant Vision: See enemies outlined in red through walls for a short duration

New "Redacted" weapons are teased for the mode as well, and they'll be lootable in Hot Zones and bunkers.

Additionally, the midseason update introduces a Runaway Train public event to Urzikstan, which will alter the endgame of matches to require players to survive the match on Urzikstan's train.

Warzone Mobile is also included in Season 4 Reloaded. The midseason update brings zombie-themed content, including Warzone's Zombie Royale mode for Rebirth Island, an undead map update for Verdansk, new weekly events, shop updates, and more.
