Death Stranding 2: On the Beach is out this week, and players are discovering some of the nuances of the game while exploring the open-world areas of Mexico and Australia. One particular feature returning from Death Stranding essentially lets players decide where a road will be placed in the game simply by using the same route multiple times.
Content creator Synth Potato posted an example of this on X. Apparently if enough players make the same driving choices in the wilderness, Death Stranding 2 will respond by clearing a path and making it a road that all players that can eventually use.
Neither Death Stranding 2 nor its predecessor hid this feature and it's not completely unknown. But it has caught some users on social media by surprise. The flash flood sequences have also shocked players by their sudden appearance.
Even a simple drive through the country isn't safe from some unexpectedly aggressive creatures.
Death Stranding 2 director Hideo Kojima recently said that this was his most-challenging game to date, and the project was almost canceled. Nintendo Pictures--a subsidy of the Japanese gaming giant--also contributed to Death Stranding 2 and its predecessor. There may still be some surprises left to uncover, but players have already discovered Death Stranding 2's Birthday Easter egg, which occurs if you play the game on your birthday.
Sony has released Death Stranding 2: On the Beach on PS5 and it's available now.

Death Stranding 2 has a completely hidden mechanic where if you and other players keep using the same path, it eventually becomes an actual road and all the rocks/trees in the way get cleared.
This mechanic was also in DS1 but I'd say 99% of players never knew about this pic.twitter.com/9KK2oTkYlT

I love how much more alive the world feels in this one, flash floods can appear out of nowhere (even when it’s not raining) pic.twitter.com/X3YFAXUi9x
