On X, a "former Game Informer member" wrote that the magazine's legacy deserved better than what was previously issued to the public. The new social media post ends with words from former editor-in-chief Matt Miller: "Be well. Play well." Additionally, two images are attached that show off the "masthead from issue 368," which was in production but won't be finished. The screenshots highlight everyone on who staff who lost their jobs last week. The actual Game Informer X account was closed shortly after the message was shared, but GameSpot screen-grabbed it first.

Schreier also added images that compare the two goodbyes, though it hasn't been confirmed that parent company GameStop used AI to make the message.
GameStop closed down Game Informer on August 2. The magazine started back in 1991 during the 16-bit era, becoming one of the quintessential video game publications for decades alongside competitors like EGM and GamePro. The last issue was 367, with Dragon Age: The Veilguard adorning the cover.
