Here's What Destiny 2: Edge Of Fate Expansion's New Exotic Armor Does

Destiny 2's next expansion, The Edge of Fate, is headlined by the mysterious new Kepler destination, but developer Bungie is also adding a bunch of new Exotic gear. Specifically, three new Exotic armor pieces are coming--one for each class--and they boast new perks to change up gameplay.

In a developer livestream today, Bungie went into detail about what to expect from each new armor piece. First, Warlocks can acquire Eunoia, a Solar gauntlet that enhances the Hellion class ability. Specifically, Eunoia makes the Hellion mortar shatter upon impact into a bunch of smaller, enemy-seeking projectiles. It's also got some neat aesthetic stylings to go along with its Solar emphasis.

Second, Hunters get Moirai, a Strand gauntlet that enhances and combines the effect of the Threaded Spike melee and Tangles. After deploying a Tangle, Moirai allows Hunters to use the Threaded Spike melee to detonate the Tangle and then return it back to the player. As Bungie put it, the gauntlet allows for "yo-yoing" Tangles.

Finally, Titans get access to Melas Panoplia, a Solar gauntlet that supplements the Throwing Hammer. If you acquire a Firesprite or complete Solar final blows, Melas Panoplia allows you to become a "Forge Master," which allows you to boomerang the hammer after throwing it. In addition, if you do the throw-retrieve combo with good timing, the gauntlet will cause an explosion and extend the time as Forge Master.

While at a recent preview event, I had the opportunity to go hands on with Eunoia, and I can confirm that it significantly improves the Hellion class ability. Combined with my Prismatic subclass that strengthens Hellion and focuses on class ability, I could immediately see an improvement in my ability to do Solar damage across larger areas by using Hellion's new characteristics.

These pieces and more--including Exotic weapons, new destination abilities, and a shooting range--will go live with The Edge of Fate, which launches on July 15. For more on the expansion's campaign, new location, and other tweaks, check out our extensive preview here.
