Are you wondering about how to activate the Boiler Room in Blue Prince? Several rooms in the game have their own unique perks and effects. The Boiler Room, however, is all about functionality. The first thing you need to do if you want to activate the Boiler Room in Blue Prince is to make sure that all three green tanks are active--i.e. click on their respective valves so that the meter is in the green.
Next, head down to the lower section and do the following:
For the upper section, if the switch is flicked to the right, then it'll open the adjacent doorway. Don't bother with that for now. Instead, flick the switch to the left so that steam is funneled to the machine in the center.
For the upper section, the switch has to be turned to the left so that steam leads to the central tank.
All three pipes should be funneling steam into the central machinery. You should then see that the whole panel in the center is lit up. Press the "Activate" button to power up the Boiler Room.
Another thing you'll notice is that there's a slider on the panel and it can be moved to the left, middle, or right. These directions pertain to the pathways/doorways in the Boiler Room. How to activate the Boiler Room in Blue Prince
When you first draft the Boiler Room, you'll notice several objects and machinery:
- There's a central control panel at the top.
- There are three green pumps--two in the lower section and one in the upper section.
- A couple of red tubes down below can also be rotated.
- You'll notice two switches along the pipes as well.
The first thing you need to do if you want to activate the Boiler Room in Blue Prince is to make sure that all three green tanks are active--i.e. click on their respective valves so that the meter is in the green.
Solving the Boiler Room Puzzle: Lower section
Next, head down to the lower section and do the following:
- The first red tube--i.e. the one near a green tank--must connect to the longer system of pipes.
- The second red tube--i.e. the T-shaped contraption--must be linked to the initial pipe, the pipe leading to the central machinery, and the pipe leading to the fusebox in the corner.
- There's a small switch next to the other vertical pipe, so make sure it's flicked upward.
Solving the Boiler Room Puzzle: Upper section
For the upper section, if the switch is flicked to the right, then it'll open the adjacent doorway. Don't bother with that for now. Instead, flick the switch to the left so that steam is funneled to the machine in the center.
For the upper section, the switch has to be turned to the left so that steam leads to the central tank.
Activating the Boiler Room and connecting to other facilities
All three pipes should be funneling steam into the central machinery. You should then see that the whole panel in the center is lit up. Press the "Activate" button to power up the Boiler Room.
Another thing you'll notice is that there's a slider on the panel and it can be moved to the left, middle, or right. These directions pertain to the pathways/doorways in the Boiler Room. Essentially, you can power up facilities via connections made by ventilation shafts and ducts which you'll see on the ceiling. There are, however, a couple of caveats:
- Ventilation shafts and ducts can only appear in gear-type rooms (i.e. those with a small gear icon on the portrait) or red rooms.
- Gear-type rooms include Security, Workshop, Pump Room, and others.
- Red rooms include the Dark Room, Archives, Gymnasium, and others.
- Even if a facility that you want to power up isn't adjacent to the Boiler Room, you can still funnel power to it as long as you have an unbroken connection of gear-type or red rooms leading to that area.
- If you place others, such as green rooms, bedrooms, and the like, then the connection would be broken as the ducts/shafts won't appear.
What else can you do when you restore power in the Boiler Room?
Here are a few things that you can do once you've activated the Boiler Room in Blue Prince.
- The Boiler Room will remain active for that day even if you make changes to the switches and tubes positioning.
- If you can connect power to the Laboratory, you can complete the Laboratory Puzzle.
- You can draft a Pool, which then adds the Pump Room as an option. If you can power up the Pump Room, you can make use of the reserve tank. This allows you to fully drain the Reservoir or sail the boat.
- Moreover, if you check the lower section of the Boiler Room, you should see a red control box in the corner. You can link the T-shaped red tube so that it lights up. This will unlock Red Rooms outside the manor. If you keep the red tube in this position, the Red Rooms will remain unlocked even on days when you don't access the Boiler Room.
Last but not least, we have to mention that the Boiler Room needs to be reactivated every run using the aforementioned steps. Once you've memorized what to do, you shouldn't have issues moving forward.
