The Omni-Tool is like the Swiss Army knife of Grounded 2. This device starts out as a simple chopping axe, but it can be upgraded several times and provide multiple functions. This lets you chop, dig, and hammer items to gain valuable resources for your survival. Here we'll guide you through everything you need to know in order to upgrade your Omni-Tool in Grounded 2.
After you complete the Grounded 2 tutorial, you're free to explore the dangers of being tiny in a neighborhood park. However, you'll want to quickly start working on your main objective, which tasks you with finding the Ranger Outpost. This is marked with a star icon to follow, so it's a pretty easy task. Once inside the outpost, you are tasked with grabbing an Omni-Tool off the wall.
The Omni-Tool replaces the need for several different tools as featured in the first game, which required you to have separate hammers, shovels, and axes with their own upgrades. This one tool can eventually be upgraded to do it all.
Grab the Omni-Tool from the wall, and now you have a basic axe tool for cutting. This won't get you all of the resources you need. You'll need to progress through the main mission a bit further to get access to the Ranger Station.
You'll notice a door inside the Ranger Outpost is locked. There's a phone ringing within this locked room and a terminal called a Ranger Station. Your main mission objective will now task you with finding a way to this locked room called the Communications Array.
This marks a nearby tunnel on your map. You'll need to head inside the tunnel and navigate through to reach an entrance to the locked room inside the Ranger Outpost.
This part isn't too difficult, but it's dark and contains several lawn mites, so you'll definitely want at least a basic spear to fight off the bugs. A torch is also helpful here, but you can navigate the tunnel without one.
Carry on with the mission steps to answer the phone. After a brief interaction, you'll be able to use the Ranger Station terminal found inside the room.
Interact with the Ranger Station terminal to make your first upgrade to the Omni-Tool. You already have the first axe function, but this lets you add three new tool functions with the wrench, shovel, and hammer upgrades. Each tool type also has multiple upgrades you can make for even further use.
Each type will cost resources and add a benefit to the tool. Not all resources are known at this time, and the guide will be updated. This is because some of the upgrades' required resources are coming in future patches, making some upgrades currently unavailable.
These are all listed as follows:
You start with the basic level 1 Omni-Axe functionality when you first get the Omni-Tool. This lets you cut grass and weed stems, but you can also make four additional upgrades to chop even more resource options.
