Are you looking for the Repellent in Blue Prince? It's one of the rarest items in the game, and also one of the most useful given that it allows you to alter the location of the Foundation. Our guide has all the details that you need to help you in your playthrough.
The Repellent has a nifty effect. When it's in your inventory, you can press "X" in a room inside the manor. Doing so removes that room from the house and your draft pool for a week.
Mind you, it won't work for every room--i.e. the Entrance Hall and Antechamber are immune to its effects. That said, it does become valuable when you consider one other permanent fixture in your mansion: The Foundation.
In short: The Repellent is currently the only method that allows you to move the Foundation in Blue Prince.
The Repellent might appear in the Lost and Found.
There are two ways to obtain the Repellent in Blue Prince:
Because the Foundation is a permanent room whose location does not reset, it will continue to appear as an outer room option. Thankfully, Mrs. Babbage will leave a letter in the Entrance Hall, humoring you for your unorthodox drafting strategy. She'll also leave a Repellent on the table.
If you decide to use the Repellent on the Foundation, it will disappear. You can just call it a day for an entire week in-game. After this period, you should see it in your drafting pool again, and you can plop it down a different location.
Babbage will chide you for drafting the Foundation outside, but she'll also give you a repellent.
There's a pretty good reason why you should move the Foundation in Blue Prince. Perhaps the location that you initially chose isn't optimal. Maybe you placed it somewhere in rank/row 6 beyond--it's closer to the Antechamber/Room 46, but you also have to draft a pathway to it. Since it's a permanent room that doesn't reset, this can be a hassle in your future runs due to randomization/RNG.
Ultimately, the decision is up to you. You can at least consider the Repellent as an option if ever pathing to a Foundation that's farther away becomes a frustrating endeavor.
A surreal adventure filled with wonders and mysteries await you in Blue Prince. If ever you feel stuck or lost at any point in time in your playthrough, don't forget to check our Blue Prince guides hub.

Repellent locations
There are two ways to obtain the Repellent in Blue Prince:
- Lost and Found - Since the Repellent is a rare item, it has a low chance of appearing in the Lost and Found:
- The Lost and Found is an unlockable Floorplan in the game.
- You lose two items from your inventory each time you enter it, so watch out.
- Foundation (outer room) - Alternatively, you can draft the Foundation as an outer room. Here's how:
- Unlock the West Gate Path by opening the Garage Door and removing the latch from the gate.
- Draft the Shrine as an outer room and get the Blessing of the Monk, which allows you to draft manor rooms as outer rooms if you end the day in them.
- End the day while inside the Foundation area.
- The next day, draft the Foundation as an outer room.
