How To Get Vault Keys In Blue Prince

Do you want to get more Vault Keys in Blue Prince? Similar to other items in the game, these can appear randomly in your runs. Oh, and as a caveat, they also tend to be fairly rare. Our guide discusses the different methods to acquire them, though you might still need to pray to RNGesus for a bit of luck.

How to get Vault Keys in Blue Prince - Deposit Box Keys guide

The Vault appears rarely in runs and with good reason, since you can amass a whopping +40 gold just by grabbing coins in the area. If you do get to visit the location, you'll see several deposit boxes, though only four of these could be opened by keys.

Vault Key locations

The Blue Prince Vault Keys--or Deposit Box Keys--can be found randomly in various places:

  • Items in dead-end rooms - Dead-end rooms like the Attic contain an assortment of items. It's possible that one of them is a Deposit Box Key.
  • Dirt piles - You might find these unique keys while digging for dirt piles with a Shovel.
  • Trunks/chests - These items may also appear inside locked trunks.
  • Locker Room or Sauna - In some cases, a Deposit Box Key might be found in the Locker or Sauna rooms. You need to draft the Pool before they have a chance to appear among the choices.
  • Locksmith - The Locksmith has an option to forge a Special Key in exchange for gold. There's a chance that you'll be given a Vault Key for your troubles.
  • Trading Post - If you can draft the Trading Post as an outer room, you can exchange for some items. Hopefully, one of them is a Vault Key.
  • Lost and Found - The Lost and Found is actually a Floorplan that you can acquire in the Underground. It will automatically contain two rare items. The downside is that, whenever you enter it, you also lose a random item that's already in your inventory. Note the part that's italicized. You do not want to revisit the Lost and Found since each entry causes you to lose an item.
Vault Keys can appear in all sorts of locations, but they're extremely rare, too.

Vault deposit box rewards

The four Blue Prince Vault Keys that you can collect are for deposit boxes #149, 233, 304, and 370:

  • Deposit boxes #149, 233, and 304 all have Allowance Tokens that permanently increase your starting gold.
  • Deposit box #370, meanwhile, is the most important, since it contains a Sanctum Key.
The Sanctum Key from Deposit Box 370 is the one that you're looking for.

Deposit Box #370: How we obtained the Sanctum Key from the Vault

In our playthrough, it took us a long while before we actually found Deposit Box Key #370. We've tried everything, including the use of a high-tech version of a Shovel that could dig for rarer items. Sadly, we were just unlucky. The only time that we finally obtained the key was when we did the following:

  • We drafted a Shrine as an outer room. Then, we donated 30 gold to gain the Blessing of the Monk. This blessing has a cool effect: If you end the day inside a room in the manor, you can draft it the next day as an outer room.
  • We managed to get the Lost and Found during a run, but there was still no Vault Key. We ended our day while inside the room.
  • The next day, we drafted the Lost and Found as an outer room. When we entered it, we saw Deposit Box Key #370 waiting on the desk.

In any case, we hope our Blue Prince Vault Key guide helps you out in your future runs. Randomization can be a real pain, so good luck searching for the keys that you need.
