How To Make An Armor Stand In Minecraft

Over the course of your Minecraft adventure, you're likely going to accumulate dozens of armor pieces. While you can easily throw your underleveled armor inside a chest and forget about it, why not choose to display the armor proudly in your base? In the guide below, you can see the exact recipe to craft an Armor Stand in Minecraft.

Making an Armor Stand in Minecraft

Luckily for all you decoration enthusiasts out there, crafting an Armor Stand is extremely simple and requires two basic materials in Minecraft. You can see the crafting recipe for the stand below:

  • At a crafting table, place one Smooth Stone Slab in the bottom center box
  • Place six Sticks, three across the top row, one in the middle box, and two on either side of the Smooth Stone Slab, in the crafting table

Sticks are just about the simplest resource to obtain in Minecraft, as all you need to do is place two Planks of any wood type on top of each other at a crafting table. This yields four Sticks, so you need four Planks total to make the required number for an Armor Stand.

While marginally harder to acquire, the Smooth Stone Slab also doesn't call for any advanced materials. We've covered how to make Smooth Stone in a previous guide, so check that out for all the in-depth details of crafting the resource. To make the Smooth Stone Slab, all you need are three Smooth Stones spread across any row at a crafting table. This yields six Smooth Stone Slabs, more than enough for the Armor Stand.

Once you have all the materials, craft the Armor Stand and then place it in a spot where your armor can be showcased. To use the Armor Stand, simply take out a piece of armor, put it in your hand, and then right-click the Armor Stand. This places the piece of armor in the corresponding spot on the Armor Stand. So, for example, if you have a helmet in your hand, it will be placed on top of the Armor Stand, where the head would be on a character.

To fill out the Armor Stand, you need a helmet, chestplate, legs, and boots. The armor you place on the stand doesn't have to be from the same material, so feel free to either mix and match or keep all the same armor together.
