Do you want to solve the Parlor Puzzle in Blue Prince? The Parlor Room itself has a fairly high chance of appearing among the drafting options in the manor. The activity within also relies more on logical deduction, with a bit of humor on the side.
The Parlor Puzzle involves three boxes--blue, white, and black--with different statements/clues. If you read the note on the desk, it should tell you that:
Once you think you have the answer, pick up the Wind-Up Key and use it on the container. If you guessed correctly, you'll be able to pick up two gems.
The images on the left and right show the boxes and their respective clues/statements. Only one of these has a reward.
Essentially, you have to rely on a process of elimination if you want to solve the Blue Prince Parlor Puzzle. Here's one example that we encountered early in our playthrough:
Boxes 1 and 2 are both false since we all know that only one box contains gems. That means Box 3 has the truthful statement--i.e. it has the gems.
You can get an upgrade that grants two Wind-Up Keys in case you make a wrong guess.
Of course, things do progressively harder each time you successfully pick the correct container--including boxes that no longer have statements or more cryptic phrases in general. Also, just because a box has a true statement does not mean that it contains the gems. So, you really need to think long and hard before you make a choice. As a rule of thumb, always assume that one box has a true statement. Then, see how that impacts the statements on the other boxes.
Later, though, you can find an Upgrade Disk that makes the Blue Prince Parlor Puzzle significantly easier. Each Upgrade Disk modifies a specific room in the manor, allowing you to select from three permanent perks. The best Parlor Room upgrade that we've seen grants an extra Wind-Up Key, which means you can still pick a different box in case you guessed wrong the first time. This helps you acquire the trophy for this room--which requires 40 successful completions--a lot faster since you're able to make two guesses whenever you find yourself in this area.
In any case, we wish you luck whenever you encounter the Parlor Puzzle in the manor. Of course, there are tougher challenges that await, such as the puzzles in the Billiards Room, Gallery, and Room 8.
A surreal adventure filled with wonders and mysteries await you in Blue Prince. If ever you feel stuck or lost at any point in time in your playthrough, don't forget to check our Blue Prince guides hub.
