Elden Ring Nightreign packs a solid number of nightfarers and bosses in its base game, ensuring players have plenty to do right out of the gate. But if you've seen everything in the initial release and want some fresh challenges, The Forsaken Hollows DLC adds two new playable characters, two extra bosses, and a fresh Shifting Earth event. If you're curious what you'll need to accomplish to unlock access to these additions, though, we've got you covered below.
Before you can begin unlocking the content in The Forsaken Hollows DLC, you'll need to purchase and download it from your platform's respective storefront. Alternatively, if you've previously purchased the Elden Ring Nightreign Deluxe Edition, you'll be able to download the DLC at no additional cost.
Once you've installed the DLC, follow the steps below to unlock each bit of new content.
To unlock the Scholar and Undertaker--Nightreign's new playable characters--you'll need to defeat the game's first boss, Tricephelos. Afterward, speak to the Iron Menial at Roundtable Hold, who will mention he has a message from the Small Jar Merchant. This begins the process of unlocking the Scholar and Undertaker.
To unlock the Balancers expedition--which includes Nightreign's two new bosses--you'll need to defeat at least two bosses (Tricephelos and one other) and have the Scholar and Undertaker unlocked. With these requirements met, head to the chapel that has opened behind the Small Jar Merchant to begin playing the Balancers expedition. This will also unlock a new Shifting Earth event called The Great Hollows.
With the new nightfarers and expedition unlocked, you'll be ready to see everything The Forsaken Hollows DLC has to offer. Just be prepared for a tough challenge ahead--it's not going to be easy taking down the Balancers.
