Marathon May Have Server Queues At Launch

Bungie's big new shooter Marathon launches on March 5, and the developer has now warned fans that there may be server queues upon release if demand is high enough.

In a FAQ, Bungie said, "Launch days are busy," and as such, players may encounter "brief queues." Bungie also said it may push new updates live for maintenance, and if that's the case, the developer will release those details on the its Server Status pages on X and BlueSky.

When a big game launches, it's also pretty normal for there to be issues, and Bungie said players can visit the Help pages and forums on Bungie.net to find solutions to known issues. Additionally, players can join the official Marathon Discord and follow the MarathonDevTeam account for the latest information.

What's more, Bungie also clarified how players can claim the rewards they got for participating in the recent Server Slam beta test. These rewards will be available to claim in player mailboxes starting March 5, but Bungie said it will "take some time" for them to arrive for everyone.

"So if you don't see them upon logging in, hold tight--they should arrive soon," Bungie said. Players need to log in before Season 1 ends to receive the bonuses.

Marathon, which costs $40, launches March 5 for PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. The game was supposed to release back in September 2025 but Bungie delayed the game to address feedback. Marathon is Bungie's first brand-new console and PC game since 2017's Destiny 2.
