New Crimson Desert Video Features Cannons, Lightning Attacks, And Two Boss Battles

Developer Pearl Abyss has shared a new gameplay video for Crimson Desert, giving players a taste of what to expect for the open-world game at Gamescom and PAX West later this month. The demo is pretty action-packed: The protagonist Greymane Kliff is seen flying over terrain as a bird, utilizing lightning attacks to light up enemies, and even battling two bosses.

In the roughly 13-minute video (seen below), Kliff is apparently looking for one of his best buds, Greymane Oongka. This leads Crimson Desert's protagonist into a large-scale battle outside a castle, as a rebellion has been sparked by a turncoat called Cassius Morten. Kliff ends up firing cannons at the Drunk Black Bears enemies and then engaging in close-quarters combat--showing off elemental attacks like fire and ice, in addition to lightning. There's even a large foe to take on that wields an axe.

In the depths of the castle resides another boss, this time the traitor Morten. The well-armored opponent has a mace and shield to face off against Kliff. But in this gameplay video, the protagonist ends up using Morten's shield against him to end the fight. Pearl Abyss notes that Morten can be toppled in multiple ways, though.

Crimson Desert was delayed to 2026 earlier this month. The action-adventure game was first announced in December 2020 and comes from the studio behind Black Desert Online. But Crimson Desert is a single-player experience, not an MMO.

GameSpot got hands-on with Crimson Desert at Summer Games Fest a couple of months ago. The game is planned to arrive on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S in the first quarter of 2026.
