New Switch 2 Update Has Arrived, And Stability Stans Are Going To Be Happy

Nintendo has rolled out a new update for Switch 2, making that two hardware patches in July. However, don't expect to notice anything major with version 20.3.0 for the hybrid system.

The patch notes only detail "general system stability improvements" that will benefit Switch 2 owners, per Nintendo's website. This is pretty common language for a Nintendo system update, even when there are more specific changes. For instance, earlier this month, a previous Switch 2 update addressed issues with internet network searching and the transfer of parent control settings--as well as stability improvements.

It's unknown if the new Switch 2 update might improve backward compatibility for specific titles. Earlier this month, dataminers claimed that Portal 2 would run better after the previous hardware patch.

The launch of Switch 2 helped shatter a US hardware June sales record that stood for almost two decades. The hybrid system also reportedly sold 1.6 million units in the US, setting a new first-month record for a console launch. It's just not domestically that Switch 2 is seeing success, either. The system reportedly broke a first-month sales record in Japan, as well, moving 1.5 million units.
