Nintendo Switch 2 Amiibo Are Even More Expensive Than Expected

When Nintendo announced price increases for first-party Switch 2 accessories, the upcoming slate of The Legend of Zelda and Street Fighter Amiibo were left unmentioned. At the time, many probably assumed that the seven Amiibo figures launching alongside the Switch 2 on June 5 would retain their originally announced prices. After all, those prices were already higher than we've come to expect for Amiibo. But it turns out that Amiibo figures are receiving the biggest price increases.

Retailers including Walmart and GameStop have updated listings for the new Zelda and Street Fighter Amiibo figures. Each one is $10 more than its initial list price, which is tied for the highest increase with the Switch 2 Dock Set. That said, the Switch 2 Dock Set increased from $110 to $120, and it's only for users who want a second dock. The $10 price hike for Amiibo figures is a much higher percentage increase in comparison.

As a result of the price change, Tears of the Kingdom's Champions Amiibo will cost $30 each. A fifth new Zelda Amiibo based on Mineru's Construct is expected to launch later this year, but a price hasn't been announced yet. Zelda Amiibo figures typically cost $16, though there are figures with $20 MSRPs such as Tears of the Kingdom's Ganondorf.

Street Fighter 6's Amiibo figures, meanwhile, will be sold for a staggering $40 each. This eyebrow-raising move means each figure is only $20 less than the game--and the game includes a bunch of free DLC. For another comparison: The previously released Ken and Ryu Smash Bros. Amiibo carry $16 retail prices. Neither figure is currently in print, but you can buy Ken and Ryu Amiibo for around $25 each from resellers.

Preorders for the seven Amiibo releasing on June 5 will open on April 24 alongside Switch 2 console preorders.

As mentioned, the other new Amiibo is for Mineru's Construct. There's no confirmed release date beyond "coming soon," and a price is yet to be determined. It's looking like it'll be quite large, however, and it wouldn't be surprising if it retailed for a higher price than the other four Champions.

Preorders for the Nintendo Switch 2 versions of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, Breath of the Wild, and Street Fighter 6 will be available on April 24, too.
