Overwatch Introduces Its First-Ever Mythic Weapon Skin

Overwatch 2's first-ever Mythic Weapon skin is finally here. The Bound Demon Reinhardt Mythic Weapon skin was added to Overwatch 2's in-game Mythic Shop this week, and is the first of its kind.

Designed to evolve visually as players compete in matches, the Bound Demon skin features dynamic reactions to the player's in-game behavior. The skin's visuals change with each swing and charge, similar to the way Apex Legends' reactive weapon skins function (though Reinhardt's Mythic Weapon itself is much closer to Apex's Heirloom Weapons).

The Bound Demon skin has three levels of visual effects that can be unlocked via Mythic Shards. These visuals include unique weapon flourishes, special animations/VFX that play when eliminating an enemy, and other reactive visual effects that reflect players' in-game actions.

The basic version of Reinhardt's Mythic Weapon can be unlocked for 50 Mythic Shards ($40 USD), but the three levels of the Bound Demon Mythic Weapon skin cost 10 Mythic Shards ($10 USD) each. Players looking for a more wallet-friendly way to obtain the skin may want to opt for the Reinhardt Mythic Weapon Skin Bundle, which is currently available via the in-game shop for $40 USD.

The bundle includes the basic version of the weapon, along with 2,000 Overwatch Coins and an instant, 20-level boost for the current season's battle pass. Since 80 Mythic Shards are included in the premium version of the game's battle pass, that 20-level boost could easily provide more than enough Mythic Shards to unlock the three tiers of Reinhardt's new Bound Demon Mythic Weapon skin.

It's unclear how long the Reinhardt Mythic Weapon skin bundle will be available for purchase, but Blizzard did say the bundle will only be available for a "brief period," so players looking to get their hands on the new skin--along with a battle-pass boost and some Overwatch Coins--will likely want to act fast, as the bundle option could be gone in a matter of days, when the in-game store's weekly restocking takes place.

More information on the fiery new weapon skin--and the story behind its creation--can be found on the official Overwatch blog.
