Plants Vs. Zombies Replanted Announced For Switch Systems, Coming In October

EA revealed Plants vs. Zombies Replanted for Switch and Switch 2 at today's Nintendo Direct presentation. The remaster brings back the original tower-defense title with HD visuals and new local co-op functionality.

Plants vs. Zombies Replanted will provide "the same charm, chaos, and sun-powered defense players know and love," according to EA. That means positioning different garden friends, like Peashooters and Cob Cannon, on a backyard grid to mow down the undead, who are moving from right to left to attack. Eventually, players will meet Crazy Dave, who sells upgrades to protect your yard. In addition, EA stated in a press release that Plants vs. Zombies Replanted will offer "new levels, fresh twists, and 15 years of never-before-seen franchise history at your fingertips."

The original game launched in 2009 on PC and then came out on iPhone and Xbox 360 in 2010--plus a ton of other platforms afterward. Plants vs. Zombies also started a whole new franchise, including spin-off titles like Garden Warfare.

Plants vs. Zombies Replanted is planned to launch October 23, with preorders opening up today. EA's website shows the game costing $20 and coming to PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S--in addition to Switch and Switch 2.
