Popeyes Wants To Give You Free Stuff For Playing A Fortnite Map

Fast food joint Popeye's Chicken is joining the Fortnite metaverse this weekend--From April 11-13, the well-liked Murder Mystery Creative island will be home to a new Popeye's restaurant in which players must survive against one of their own who's secretly a murderer. Those who play Murder Mystery in the Popeye's restaurant can earn free Popeye's loot by taking a screenshot of themselves in the digital restaurant and tweeting the pic at the official Popeye's account.

The digital Popeye's restaurant you can solve a murder in starting April 11.
Officially, the contest is to take a screenshot of yourself wearing the Big Dill skin from the current season's battle pass--but it's not actually required, since you have to buy the battle pass to get that skin. After tweeting the pic at the Popeye's account using the hashtag #PopeyesPickleQuestCoupon, you'll receive a code for some unspecified real-world reward.

The whole effort is to promote Popeye's new Pickle Menu--and with a pickle skin on the current Fortnite battle pass, apparently the powers-that-be at the restaurant decided a little cross-promotion was in order. This is not, however, a true collaboration between Fortnite and Popeye's--Epic has avoided collaborating with any real food brands, since Fortnite has a large audience of children. But Fortnite Creative, which is a bit of a Wild West situation that allows any Fortnite user to make just about any kind of game experience, gives brands like Popeye's the chance to advertise in Epic's metaverse without dealing directly with Epic.

Instead, this collaboration is between Popeye's and GoodGamers, the group that created and keeps the Murder Mystery map updated. For those who aren't familiar with it, Murder Mystery is similar, but more primitive, to the defunct Impostors mode, filling a big niche in Fortnite's metaverse after that game mode was removed in 2022.
