Prince of Persia: The Sands Of Time Remake Press Kit Surfaces, Has Giant Dagger

Late last month, Ubisoft abruptly canceled the highly anticipated Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time remake. Now, a collectible Sands of Time dagger has surfaced, and as it turns out, it was created a long time ago.

YouTuber Quiver posted a video of the Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time collectors' set, which was engraved with the game's title. This has led to speculation that the Sands of Time remake may have been closer to launch, at least at one point, than previously believed.

As it turns out, this promotional item was created all the way back in 2020. Ubisoft told GameSpot that it was made "as part of the 2020 campaign" for the remake but "was never distributed externally." The game suffered several delays prior to its eventual cancellation.

Ubisoft has explained that The Sands of Time remake was canceled because it couldn't "reach the level of quality" expected from fans. However, the company reiterated that it is not abandoning the Prince of Persia franchise. The most recent games in the franchise, Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown and The Rogue Prince of Persia, were both well-received.
