PS5 Players Say They're Getting MindsEye Refunds

MindsEye seems to be off to a rocky start, and we're not talking about the game's setting of Red Rock. For some players, including on PS5, they're unhappy enough with the action-adventure game's performance to ask for refunds. Apparently, Sony is granting these requests, at least so far.

Spotted by TheGamer, a Reddit post by a PS5 owner claims that MindsEye players on that platform are guaranteed a refund (if they want one) because PlayStation Support said it was aware of the game's optimization issues and are investigating the situation. Additionally, a person going by Wolfgang on X shared what appears to be a PS5 refund message from Sony. It states that: "Usually, we are not allowed to process refunds for games that were downloaded because of the PlayStation Store cancellation policy." But since this player was supposedly having issues with MindsEye, it was granted.

As such, the MindsEye situation has seen people calling back to late 2020 when Cyberpunk 2077 was removed from the PlayStation Store because of technical issues with the game. Meanwhile, MindsEye developer Build a Rocket Boy has noted it's "working around the clock" to fix performance problems and patch the game.

Another oddity that occurred recently during MindsEye's launch was a sponsored stream for the game with Twitch streamer CohhCarnage getting pulled at the last possible minute. Kotaku senior reporter Ethan Gach shared a clip on X of the popular streamer addressing the messy situation.

MindsEye launched a couple of days ago on June 10 for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S. Just before that, two executives for Build a Rocket departed the company.
