PSA For Elden Ring Steam Deck Players: Don't Leave Your Game Running

Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree is almost here, but From Software has a quick warning for anyone looking to jump in on Steam Deck. There is currently an issue with Elden Ring on Steam Deck that could cause problems for players if they aren't aware of the issue.

Ahead of Shadow of the Erdtree rolling out on PC, From Software shared on X (formerly Twitter) that it has identified a Steam Deck issue where Elden Ring will become unresponsive to player input if the Steam Deck is left inactive for five minutes. This is a pretty huge issue, since you wouldn't be able to save or do anything else in Elden Ring if the game becomes unresponsive. From Software said that it is working on a hotfix for the issue, although it didn't say when players can expect the fix to release.

Note: a Steam Deck related issue has been identified and a hotfix is being worked on.
Leaving your Steam Deck inactive for more than 5 minutes may stop the game from accepting inputs.
We apologize for inconvenience.
The date and time of the hotfix will be announced separately.

That said, Steam Deck players can still hop into Shadow of the Erdtree when it releases, they just need to be aware of the issue and to avoid leaving their Steam Deck inactive for more than five minutes at a time. Some X users replied to From Software's post, reporting more issues with Elden Ring on Steam Deck. These issues include being unable to connect to the online servers for Elden Ring and missing features that were meant to come with the latest patch.

Elden Ring: Shadow of Erdtree adds a new area to From Software's open-world RPG, with new bosses, weapons, and surprises. To learn more check out GameSpot's 10/10 Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree review.
