Red Dead Redemption's New Modern Upgrade Shown Off In First Gameplay Footage

Last month, word broke that Rockstar Games' seminal Western Red Dead Redemption is getting a modern update for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Switch 2. It's going to officially launch on December 2, but the upgrade is already going live in different territories. Now, the first footage of Red Dead Redemption's new update running on PS5 is already online.

GameRiot shared the following video of the opening minutes of Red Dead Redemption running 60 frames per second on PS5. Rockstar says the update provides the game with "enhanced image quality, HDR support, and resolutions up to 4K."


According to PureXbox, the Red Dead Redemption upgrade for Xbox Series X|S for in New Zealand is already going for 50% off. Whether that discount will be offered in other territories remains unclear at the moment.

Developers Double Eleven and Cast Iron Games developed the new version of Red Dead Redemption for Rockstar Games. Players who already have the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Switch ports will be able to get a free digital upgrade for their respective modern systems. PS4 and Switch players will also get to utilize their saved game data after the upgrade is downloaded.

Red Dead Redemption's modern upgrade will also be coming to PlayStation Plus and the GTA+ subscription service on December 2. There have been rumors that Red Dead Redemption 2 may get upgrades for PS5 Xbox Series X|S, and Switch 2. However, that remains unconfirmed for now.
