Roblox Is Partnering With The US Olympics For A New In-Game Experience

It's now possible to hang out with Team USA athletes before they go for gold at the Paris 2024 Olympics. A new Roblox experience--called Team USA Ultimate Obby--has launched today from NBCUniversial and the US Olympic and Paralympic Committee.

Team USA Ultimate Obby offers a map to explore where you can race friends, watch Olympic highlights, and meet professional athletes like skateboarder Minna Stess. "As a big fan of Roblox, I think it's really cool to see Team USA on this platform," Stess said in a press release. "I've been playing on Roblox for years but never thought I would one day see my own avatar in an experience along with so many other Olympic and Paralympic athletes, so that is also exciting."

Skaterboarder Minna Stess and other Team USA athletes show up as NPCs in Team USA Ultimate Obby in Roblox.
Stress is one of 20 USA athletes who show up in the Roblox experience. Other NPCs in Team USA Ultimate Obby include volleyball player Chiaka Ogbogu, gymnast Kayla DiCello, paralympic swimmer Jamal Hill, and breaker Victor Montalvo. For those unaware, Breaking is a new competition for the 2024 Olympics.

Roblox is no stranger to high-profile collaborations. In the past, Ikea has opened a virtual store in Roblox (even paying people); an official Jaws game lets you become a shark and eat your friends; and there's even a Hamilton Simulator with the help of creator Lin-Manuel Miranda.

As one of the most popular games in the world, Roblox consistently appears as one of the top 10 titles recently played on PlayStation and Xbox platforms. It's also not above criticism, with Roblox studio head Stefano Corazza disputing child exploitation claims earlier this year.
