Rumored PlayStation Showcase May See Return Of Beloved Sony Hero

With rumors suggesting a PlayStation showcase-style event could be coming soon, a new report has revealed a game that is said to be getting an imminent announcement. And it involves one of Sony's most recent platforming heroes, Astro Bot.

According to Dealabs, developer Team Asobi is working on a new Astro Bot game simply just titled, Astro Bot. There is reportedly a desert-like area or level and one of the new characters introduced is a fennec in the form of a robot, similar to Astro.

Additionally, the game will reportedly be exclusive to PS5, and not tied to PSVR 2. The game is reportedly going to be revealed within the next 15 days, which could mean it shows up during a PlayStation showcase if one does indeed take place soon.

Dealabs has had a consistent track record when it comes to insider information about PlayStation. They reported on Until Dawn getting PS5 and PC versions, and Sony indeed revealed them back in January. Earlier this month, Dealabs reported that God of War Ragnarok would be coming to PC, which has yet to be officially announced, and also reported that more details about Sony's upcoming live-service, Concord, will be revealed soon.

The first game in the series, Astro Bot: Rescue Mission, was released in 2018 for PS4 and PSVR. The sequel, Astro's Playroom, was released in 2020 and came pre-installed with every PS5 console. Both games were critically well-received and Astro's Playroom served as a tech demo for the PS5's DualSense controller.

Back in 2021, Team Asobi revealed that it was working on its "most ambitious game yet" but it's unclear whether the game is referring to this potential Astro Bot one or a completely different project.
