Silent Hill 2 Remake Devs Give Update On Upcoming Nintendo Exclusive, Project M

Bloober Team--the studio behind 2024's Silent Hill 2 remake, 2025's Cronos: The New Dawn, and the recently announced Layers of Fear 3--just gave an update on some of its upcoming titles, including the mysterious Nintendo-exclusive title codenamed Project M.

"At this stage, we are satisfied with the direction in which the project is developing," Bloober CEO Piotr Babieno said (per Inwestycje.pl, via machine translation by VGC).

Babieno also noted that Project M has gone through "some organizational changes" and has been transferred to a new development team.

First revealed via a live-action teaser trailer in January 2025, Project M is a Nintendo-exclusive horror title that Bloober claims will appeal to fans of "Resident Evil, Silent Hill, Limbo, and Eternal Darkness," and "could only exist on Nintendo hardware." It is being developed by Bloober Team and second-party studio Broken Mirror Games.

Project M's brief teaser trailer depicts a young girl playing outdoors with a red ball in one hand and a blue ball in another. Meanwhile, a man struggles to orient himself inside a dilapidated, maze-like building. The clip cuts back to the young girl, who is playing with puppets, then back to the man, who is faced with two doors--one red, one blue. Entering through the red door, he catches a glimpse of his reflection and is horrified to discover that he's being manipulated by red puppet strings which can only be seen when he looks in the mirror.

As for Bloober's other projects, Babieno didn't address the Silent Hill remake Bloober is currently working on, though Konami confirmed the project back in June. Babieno also discussed another codenamed project, Project H, which is being worked on by the same team that developed Cronos: The New Dawn.

"The creative part of the team is currently working on pre-production for a new original project," Babieno said. "At the same time, most of the production team [of Cronos] is currently supporting the polishing process for selected projects carried out within our second-party segment. After completing the pre-production stage, the team will gradually move on to full production of the new project."

Next to no details on Project H are currently available, but Babieno is calling it "the most ambitious project this team has ever undertaken, with the greatest commercial potential of any of [Bloober's] titles."

Bloober Team is also working on the recently announced Layers of Fear 3. After teasing the game in a manner that had players falsely convinced it was a Rule of Rose remake, Bloober revealed that the upcoming title is actually Layers of Fear 3. No official release date has been announced yet, but Babieno says fans of the studio have a lot to look forward to in the coming months.

"This year should be a very intense year for us in terms of communication," Babieno said. "We plan to be present at several important industry events, during which we will gradually unveil subsequent elements of our project pipeline."
