It's-a Mario Day! March 10 has been recognized as the day Nintendo celebrates its biggest icon, and, like previous years, the company is offering big discounts on several games starring the mustachioed plumber through its eShop and select retailers. On average, you can expect to save $20 on each Switch game, and several of Mario's greatest hits are included in the sale, such as Super Mario Odyssey, Super Mario 3D World + Bowser's Fury, Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door Switch remake, and many more. Most of these discounts will run through March 14. Check the list below for all the best Mario game discounts we've found happening this week. We've also rounded up dozens more deals on Mario merchandise happening this week, including Blu-rays, books, action figures, and much more, so if you're looking to treat a Mario fan at home--or yourself--there's plenty on offer.
As mentioned above, a long list of Mario games for Nintendo Switch and Switch 2--both mainline titles and spinoffs--are on sale this week. Many are regarded as some of the best Switch titles, including Super Mario Odyssey, which still shines almost a decade after its 2017 release, and Super Mario 3D World + Bowser's Fury, another outstanding 3D adventure that expanded on the Wii U original and made it even better. We've also included a few discounted releases starring Mario's friends, such as Luigi's Mansion 3 and Donkey Kong Country Returns HD.
While it's not on sale, don't forget you can preorder the Switch 2 edition of Super Mario Bros. Wonder at multiple online retailers ahead of its launch on March 26. This updated version of the critically acclaimed platformer adds a whole new area with two plazas to explore, called Bellabel Park. It also makes Rosalina a playable character, and it adds 17 new multiplayer minigames. As you'd expect from a Switch 2 upgrade, this version of Super Mario Bros. Wonder also boasts technical updates like a 4K resolution when docked, improved frame rates, and shorter loading screens. Both the physical and digital versions of Super Mario Bros. Wonder Switch 2 Edition + Meetup In Bellabel Park are $80, but those who already own the Switch version can upgrade to the Switch 2 version via the eShop for just $20.
Mario and pals have made a big impression in the world of Lego, and several of their best sets are on sale. For something that's bound to turn heads, we'd recommend the Mario Kart display piece, as the set includes almost 2,000 pieces to create Mario's signature speed machine. While it's more expensive now than when it was first released, the Super Mario 64 Question Block is still a fun tribute to one of Mario's greatest eras, and considering that this set was retired by Lego not too long ago, once it's gone, it'll be gone.
It's always a good idea to have an emotional support plushie in the home, and these 15-inch Mocchi-Mocchi stuffed plush figures are adorable imports from the Mushroom Kingdom. Officially licensed, they're manufactured from premium materials that set them apart from other plush figures on the market.
With the Super Mario Galaxy Movie launching soon, you can grab new action figures and playsets based on the animated film. So far, the line of official toys from Jakks Pacific includes collectible five-inch figures of Mario, Rosalina, and Yoshi, as well as cute diorama pieces like the Yoshi Egg and the Gateway Galaxy hub.
Speaking of Mario movies, you can currently get the original blockbuster on Blu-ray for a steal. The film is complemented by several special features, including behind-the-scenes featurettes, leadership lessons from Princess Peach voice-actor Anya Taylor-Joy, and a standalone Peaches music video.
If you're looking to purchase a Mario-related gift and you don't know what to buy, you can't go wrong with a T-shirt. There are plenty of Super Mario designs to choose from, and some of the coolest Tees here feature "vintage" art on modern fabrics. These primarily reference the 8- and 16-bit console eras with SNES-inspired prints and old-school box art.
You've played Super Mario games, now read up on them! Several books featuring the powered-up plumber have been released over the years, ranging from fiction to manga, and there's even a neat encyclopedia that charts the first 30 years of the franchise. One of the recent releases on this list is Rosalina's Storybook, a full-color picture book that details Rosalina's journey to outer space and how she became the protector and leader of the Lumas.
