The First Descendant Icons That Look Eerily Similar To Destiny 2's Will Be Changed

It's clear that The First Descendant takes inspiration from other looter-shooters like Destiny 2 and Warfare. But the similarities apparently got a little too close with Bungie's shooter specifically, with Nexon now saying it will change icons in its game that have been accused of ripping off Destiny 2.

Nexon released an official statement to IGN saying that Destiny 2 was "personally admired and respected by the team, and it has served as an inspiration during the development process. We have taken the concerns raised seriously and decided to make adjustments to ensure that the imagery that may appear similar clearly reflects the unique identity of our game."

Last week, Forbes writer Paul Tassi shared imagery on X (formerly known as Twitter) of how closely icons in The First Descendant resemble those from Destiny 2. IGN notes part of the issue could be related to an icon database named Iconduck, though most of the examples posted on Forbes aren't found on that website.

Meanwhile, it only took a week for The First Descendant to reach 10 million players. The free-to-play game got off to a big start on Steam after launching July 2. This no doubt led to server issues in the looter-shooter, which were addressed recently in a patch.
