The Last Of Us Meets Toy Story In This Grisly Crossover

The Last of Us and Toy Story are polar opposites, but what would happen if these worlds collided? You'd get one of the creepiest--albeit unofficial--crossovers of all time, as demonstrated by one talented artist.

Crafting with Kafei recently posted a video detailing how this grisly mash-up came to be. After finding action figures of Woody and Buzz Lightyear in a charity shop, they were inspired to reimagine the characters with a The Last of Us spin. Unfortunately for Buzz, that meant that the Space Ranger was going to catch a nasty case of the Cordyceps fungus, while Woody got a more grizzled makeover and was ready to make a last stand against his best friend.

A lot of work went into this diorama piece, as new parts had to be sculpted, built, and sewn together to reimagine them. Buzz got the business end of a Dremel tool, his face sawn off and filled with materials to create a convincing Cordyceps infection, while Woody's new wardrobe and facial hair made him look like a dead ringer for Joel.

The two were then positioned in a diorama base that could easily double as a stage in The Last of Us. It's full of nice little touches and Easter eggs, like grimy walls, a spreading fungal infection, and moody lighting.

In related news, The Last of Us TV series showrunner--and game creator--Neil Druckmann recently explained the "dramatic reason" behind the introduction of fungal spores in the second season.
