The Witcher Dev Debunks A Rumor About Its New IP

The Witcher and Cyberpunk 2077 developer CD Projekt has a number of projects in the works, including a new IP in the works under the codename Hadar. Maria Mazur, a quest designer on Cyberpunk 2077's Phantom Liberty expansion, told GamesRadar that it "only makes sense" for the Polish game studio to branch out and make something brand-new. Mazur also debunked a rumor about the new IP.

"I feel like it only makes sense given how many kinds of people we have on this, like the storytelling side of things but also our artists," Mazur said.

Mazur went on to say, "It feels like a waste not to invest all that into something new or something that comes straight from us. I am very excited about Hadar."

There has been an ongoing rumor that Hadar takes place in feudal Japan, but Mazur said this is not true. Very little is unknown about Hadar, but CD Projekt previously talked about how it has been in the "IP incubation" phase since 2021.

In addition to the new IP, CD Projekt is developing The Witcher 4 and a remake of the original Witcher. The team is also developing a sequel to Cyberpunk 2077.

In other news, the first images of Liam Hemsworth as the new Geralt in The Witcher Season 4 on Netflix have debuted online. Hemsworth is taking over for Henry Cavill in the final two seasons of the show.
