Now that Solstice is firing up some new activity in Destiny 2, it's a good time to check in with Xur to see if the arms dealer has any Exotics that can help you in the Bonfire Bash. Once again, Xur is back to offer a fresh selection of weapons and armor from his inventory., possibly with stats that can help you out in playlist activities. Here's where Xur is this weekend and what he has for sale.
This week you can find Xur in The Tower, inside the Hangar. For his weapon, Xur is offering Black Talon. Hunters can pick up the Lucky Pants leg armor; Titans can grab the Synthoceps gauntlets; and Warlocks can buy the Getaway Artists gauntlets.
Spawn in using the Courtyard transmat zone in the Tower to find Xur this week. Head left and down the stairs to enter the Hangar section, then hang another left. Make your way to the north end of the area and look for a staircase that will take you onto a catwalk, where Xur is waiting.
There's no shortage of Exotic Titan gauntlets that increase your punching power, and Synthoceps is a solid option for closing the gap. Biotic Enhancements give you increased lunge range, as well as improved melee and Super damage when you're surrounded, but the stats are a mixed bag on this unusually high roll. Yes, the strength stat is appropriate, but high mobility doesn't usually factor into Titan builds, while resilience and discipline is average at best with this Exotic. Recovery and intellect is also almost non-existent, so you'll have to mod this Exotic to address its shortcomings.
For the Hunter who wants to engage in a cowboy power fantasy, Lucky Pants offer a lot of benefits if you have a hand cannon equipped. One of the challenges in Solstice this year tasks you with eliminating enemies while using a hand cannon, so it might be a good idea to equip this Exotic as you pursue that goal. As for the stats, this roll of Lucky Pants has low resilience, a decent spread between mobility, discipline, intellect, and strength, and a high amount of recovery for a mostly balanced roll.
It's debatable how much utility you'll find in PvE with Getaway Artist, as an Arc Warlock can very quickly recharge their class ability to keep an Arc Soul in play. In PvP, Getaway Artist has more use as you can always keep one Arc Soul on standby while either your grenade or class ability recharges. This roll has a high resilience stat which ties nicely into survivability builds for the Crucible, but low strength, mobility, and recovery. Discipline and intellect aren't too bad, either, making this a nice Exotic if properly outfitted with armor mods to increase its weaker stats.
Black Talon is a pretty fun Exotic sword, as not only can you slice and dice with it, you can also fire off a heavy projectile attack. With the introduction of glaives in the Destiny 2 weapon pool last year, it's more of a novelty Exotic now, but if you're looking to bring a sword to your next round of Gambit, it's still a good option.
We've seen better rolls of Hawkmoon in the past, as this week's version comes with Moving Target and very little else that synergizes well with it. Moving Target grants you increased movement speed and target acquisition while aiming down the sights, but this roll is seldom seen in either PvE or PvP.
Dead Man's Tale is also worth a skip unless you really need it, as Snapshot Sights is a very low-tier perk that is usually left to gather dust when it comes to buildcrafting this Exotic scout rifle.
Xur also offers the Xenology quest every week, which requires you to complete 21 Vanguard strikes or win Crucible and Gambit matches so that you can earn an Exotic Cipher. These are normally used to buy old Exotics from a kiosk in the Tower, but from this season, you'll be able to spend them at Master Rahool to get the Exotics that you want. The cap on Exotic Ciphers has also increased, as you'll now be able to hold up to five of them at a time.
Xur is present every weekend in Destiny 2, starting with the daily reset at 10 AM PT / 1 PM ET each Friday. His exact location is always a mystery when he first arrives, as he is not listed on the map, and for novice players, he can be easy to miss. However, there are a set number of locations where he takes up residence, including the Tower Hangar area, on Nessus in Watcher's Grave, and in the Winding Cove area of the EDZ.
