Xur has arrived, bringing with him a fresh supply of new weapons and armor as Season of the Witch winds down. With Season of the Wish arriving soon alongside an overhauled version of Dragon's Breath, now is a good time to invest in new Exotics and Legendary-class gear for the final season of Lightfall. Here's where Xur is this weekend and what he has for sale.
This week you can find Xur on Nessus, in The Watcher's Grave. For his weapon, Xur is offering The Colony. Hunters can pick up St0mp-EE5 leg armor; Titans can grab Wormgod Caress gauntlets; and Warlocks can buy the Felwinter's Helm helmet.
Xur also offers the Xenology quest every week, which requires you to complete 21 Vanguard Ops or win Crucible and Gambit matches so that you can earn an Exotic Cipher. These are normally used to buy old Exotics from a kiosk in the Tower, but beginning this season, you'll be able to spend them at Master Rahool to get the Exotics that you want. The cap on Exotic Ciphers has also increased, as you'll now be able to hold up to five of them at a time.
Season of the Witch introduced the perfect tools for Titans to wreak some major damage across the battlefield, as detailed in our melee-heavy build. While that build focuses on using Synthoceps, Wormgod Caress isn't a bad substitute as the Burning Fists perk will increase melee damage after you land a melee kill. Additional kills extend the duration and increase effects, making this a great Exotic for clearing low-level enemies with. The stats don't back it up, as this Exotic has very low resilience and strength. Those are the key stats for getting up close and personal with enemies, so you'll need to address these flaws with some armor mods if you plan to make use of Wormgod Caress.
A favorite in PvP, St0mp-EE5 boots give your Hunter increased sprint speed and sliding distance while your subclass ability is full. Hunter jumping abilities are also improved, so these are very good Exotics to take advantage of when you focus on your marksmanship abilities in events like Trials of Osiris or Checkmate. The stats aren't too bad, as resilience and discipline are pretty high. Recovery is also pretty good, but strength and intellect will need to be buffed.
For Warlocks looking to make the most of their melee ability, Felwinter's Helm has a lot of potential for taking out tough opponents. Powered melee final blows create a burst of energy that weakens nearby targets, while finishers and final blows against powerful enemies increase the power and radius of that perk. Strangely, this roll of Felwinter's Helm has a terrible strength stat, but resilience, recovery, discipline, and intellect are nicely balanced.
It has been a hot minute since The Colony was last seen in Xur's inventory. This is a delightful grenade launcher that has been around since the start of Destiny 2, and what makes it great is that it fires insectoid rounds that aggressively track down enemies. In PvP, you can fire in the general vicinity of an opponent and there's a good chance that you'll land a killing blow.
Another week, another bad roll of Hawkmoon. The improvements from Surplus--increased handling, reload speed, and stability for each charged ability--aren't that high, so it's safe to skip Hawkmoon this week unless you really need it.
