Witcher 4 Beta Invites Are A Scam, Dev Warns

CD Projekt Red has warned Witcher fans that scammers are trying to take advantage of their enthusiasm for the franchise by sending scam emails inviting them to a Witcher 4 beta that does not exist. "This is a scam!" the developer said.

In a post on social media from the game's official account, the studio said it's taken steps to "take this fraudulent messaging down," but in case you still receive an email, be warned--it's a scam.

"If you receive any invites to or stumble upon news of one, we kindly ask you to report the scam using the tools available to you in your email client or the social media platform you are using," the developer said. "Remember: Professional monster slayers don't fall for scams; they see right through them and slay them!"

Should CD Projekt Red one day conduct a Witcher 4 beta test, the developer assured fans they will "hear about it first, as always, via our official social media channels and websites."

That's a promise the studio cannot claim to follow through on, as the first word about upcoming beta tests and general game reveals oftentimes come by way of product-page leaks and reports. But the first official word on anything new for The Witcher 4 would surely come from the developer itself.

The Witcher 4 is now in development, but it's not expected to launch until 2027 at the soonest. Given that, many are wondering if it's possible the game could come to new PlayStation and Xbox consoles. This remains unknown.

In addition to The Witcher 4, CD Projekt is developing a Cyberpunk 2077 sequel and a Witcher 1 remake. Additionally, the company recently reached a deal with Saudi Arabia for a new game.
