Xbox President Now Has Another Job At A Different Company

Xbox president Sarah Bond is joining a different company's board of directors while retaining her position at Microsoft, and the new job is something few could have predicted.

Tyson Foods has announced that Bond will be the company's newest independent director for its board, effective immediately. This isn't the only board position that Bond holds, as she's also on the board for the University of Southern California School of Cinematic Arts. Bond went to Yale and got a bachelor's degree in economics before attending Harvard for her Master's in Business Administration.

Tyson Foods chairman John H. Tyson said Bond is a "dynamic and passionate" person whose "energy and personality are a wonderful fit for our culture."

"We are confident that her unique expertise will help us continue to grow and serve our customers, our team members, and our shareholders," he said.

Bond will be paid by Tyson Foods at a level that is "in accordance with [Tyson's] current director compensation policy," though her exact remuneration was not disclosed.

Tyson Foods is a multinational food giant known for chicken, beef, and pork products. The company has been involved in numerous controversies over the years and is currently being investigated over child labor accusations.

Bond joined Microsoft in 2017. She previously worked at T-Mobile and McKinsey. She became Xbox president in 2023, replacing Phil Spencer in that role; he was promoted to Microsoft Gaming CEO.

As Xbox president, Bond oversees a variety of Xbox teams spanning devices, player and creator experience, platform engineering, strategy, business planning, data and analytics, and business development. She upset people recently by listing the many reasons why she's so excited about Microsoft's decision to embrace AI amid mass layoffs.
