Zelda Actor Reacts To The Live-Action The Legend Of Zelda Movie

Patricia Summersett, who voices Zelda in The Legend of Zelda series, has commented on the upcoming live-action The Legend of Zelda movie. She does not appear to be involved but said in an interview with IGN that she is "curious to see what the iteration is," and that's a question many fans are wondering as well.

Is the game going to adapt the story of any game in particular like some film adaptations do? Or take more of the approach that The Super Mario Bros. Movie did with how it doesn't adapt any specific game but instead carries forward the same characters, theme, and tone of the games?

Summersett went on to say that she expects the movie to feature "a strong Zelda" and a "powerful lead character in Zelda." As for Link, Summersett said she has "no idea" what the filmmakers are going to do with him. "Is he going to speak? They certainly haven't alluded to the fact that he does, yet," she said.

Bo Bragason plays Zelda in The Legend of Zelda movie, and Summersett said she is "going to be amazing." Link, meanwhile, is played by Benjamin Evan Ainsworth. The movie is in production now in New Zealand, but there have not been any trailers or official details yet.

The Legend of Zelda movie is in production at Sony Pictures, with Nintendo producing as well. Critically, Nintendo is funding more than 50% of the production, which gives the company leverage and the ability to make a ton of money if it succeeds. Nintendo also financed The Super Mario Bros. Movie with a 50-50 split with Universal.

Shigeru Miyamoto, who created Zelda, is a producer on The Legend of Zelda movie, along with Marvel veteran Avi Arad. After its run in theaters, The Legend of Zelda movie will be exclusive to Netflix as part of a massive deal between Sony and Netflix.

Beyond the live-action The Legend of Zelda movie, Nintendo is reteaming with Universal for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie, which releases in April this year. Nintendo probably is not stopping there, as the company has promised a steady cadence of movie releases going forward.
