The 30th anniversary for Diablo means all sorts of cool announcements--like the newest Warlock class on the way for multiple games--but so far, Switch 2 isn't a part of the celebration. Eurogamer decided to ask developer Blizzard about Diablo IV coming to Nintendo's new system or even a Switch 2 upgrade for Diablo II: Resurrected. A spokesperson responded that they had nothing to comment on about those topics.
Earlier this week, Blizzard revealed major updates for Diablo IV and Diablo II: Resurrected. The former is receiving the Lord of Hatred expansion in April, while the latter just got the Reign of the Warlock DLC (which is available on Switch).
The dungeon-crawler franchise first arrived on a Nintendo platform with Diablo 3: Eternal Collection on Switch in 2018. In fact, the game even got The Legend of Zelda crossover items, such as a Triforce portrait. This was followed by Blizzard bringing Diablo II: Resurrected to Switch in 2021, so there is precedent for the series on Nintendo's home console.
Before Switch 2 launched last year, former Diablo general manager Rod Fergusson discussed the "opportunity" for Diablo IV to come to the hybrid console. However, Fergusson has since left Blizzard and now oversees the BioShock franchise.
Blizzard will support Switch 2 with Overwatch, which recently dropped the 2 as part of a major rehaul. The developer is promising a Switch 2 version of the free-to-play FPS when Season 2 goes live later this year.
