Expedition 33's Charlie Cox Teases He's Doing Another Video Game That Will Be "Much More Involved"

Actor Charlie Cox had never appeared in a video game until 2025's Clair Obscur: Expedition 33. The game was a huge success, critically and commercially, making for quite a gaming debut for Cox. Now, Cox has reacted to the game's success and teased that he's going to be in another game.

Speaking to Agents of Fandom (via GamesRadar), Cox said he "loved" playing the role of Gustave in Expedition 33. He voiced the character, with Maxence Cazoria doing the motion-capture work.

"I was blown away by the success that it's had and how far-reaching that game has been," Cox said. "And it has seemingly opened a new avenue for my professional work. I'm gonna do another game this year, which is gonna be much more involved for me, much more work."

He added that he didn't know "how passionate" gaming fans can be. He said they are "as passionate as the Marvel fans are." Cox is known for playing Matt Murdock/Daredevil in the MCU.

Cox was nominated for Best Performance in Expedition 33 at The Game Awards, and he said the credit should also be shared with Cazoria. That actor received an outpouring of support after Cox spoke up, saying Cox's comments were "incredibly generous."

"Bringing Gustave to life was a team effort, and I'm honored to have played my part in it. Thank you all so much for the love and support. Tomorrow comes," Cazoria said.

Cox did not end up winning Best Performance, as the award went to Jennifer English as Maelle in Expedition 33.

Spoilers for Expedition 33 follow below.

Cox's character, Gustave, dies early in the game in a twist many didn't see coming. His death helps drive the story forward as the plot shifts to focus on Maelle. With Cox saying his next gaming role will be "much more work," he could be alluding to playing a main character who has more scenes than Gustave, but this is just guesswork.

What's next for Expedition 33 studio Sandfall

Expedition 33 developer Sandfall Interactive is making a new game, but it remains to be seen if it will be the sequel fans are asking for or something else. The game's lead writer recently commented by way of a no-comment. "I cannot tell you these things. If I told you, I'd have to kill you," Jennifer Svedberg-Yen said.

She previously Sandfall does not want to people-please with whatever it makes next. Instead, Svedberg-Yen said Sandfall's next game will be what the team wants to make as opposed to being what fans specifically want.

"I've seen too many TV shows and books be swayed trying to please a lot of people, and in the process you end up losing the heart of what's there," Svedberg-Yen said. "So [we] feel like we need to trust our instincts and continue to trust the vision behind the studio."

Expedition 33 sold more than 5 million copies, but that doesn't cover the game's total reach, as it's also available to the millions of Xbox Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass subscribers through their membership, and it's coming to Game Pass Premium soon. In addition to strong sales, the game won numerous Game of the Year awards. In fact, it surpassed Elden Ring to win the most Game of the Year awards in the history of video games.
