Microsoft and Discord are teaming up for a new Game Pass offering, and now it's seemingly been leaked early. Discord Previews discovered that an upcoming perk for Discord Nitro members will be access to a new version of Game Pass called the Starter Edition.
This new version of Game Pass will include 50+ games from the game Pass library, along with an allotment of 10 hours per month for Xbox Cloud streaming. Members will also be able to accrue Xbox Rewards points for playing games, according to the leak.
The full list of games was not confirmed, but leaked art shows titles like Stardew Valley, Gears 5, Dishonored 2, Overcooked 2, Fallout 4, and Grounded, among others. It's unclear if Game Pass Starter Edition will be available for anyone, or only existing Discord Nitro members. Also unknown is if this would replace any current tier or if it would become a fourth tier of Game Pass.
GameSpot has contacted Microsoft seeking comment.
When Xbox CEO Asha Sharma announced the new deal with Discord earlier this week, she said "some code" for what the companies were working on might appear in the wild, and now it has.
Xbox and Discord already have a partnership, as Game Pass Ultimate members get a free month of Discord Nitro. Discord Nitro costs $10/month. Members get bonuses like custom profiles, 500 MB uploads, HD video streaming, and color app themes.
Game Pass recently got a price cut, falling from $30/month to $23/month for Game Pass Ultimate. Additionally, Microsoft will no longer put new Call of Duty games into Game Pass at launch, but fans will instead have to wait about a year for them to join the library.
Additionally, Sharma and Xbox chief content officer Matt Booty laid out their vision for Xbox going forward, and it includes rethinking the strategy around exclusives and potentially "windowing" other first-party games instead of putting them on Game Pass right away.
