GTA 6 Fans Are Circling This Date For More News, But That's Probably Just Wishful Thinking

Grand Theft Auto 6 is 2026's most-anticipated game and possibly the most heavily hyped game ever, so it's only natural that people obsess over every little detail and search for clues about when more information will be released ahead of launch.

The latest chapter in that story unfolded this week. Rockstar's parent company, Take-Two, announced when it will hold its next quarterly earnings briefing, a date that fans are now circling on their calendars with much interest. The Take-Two report will be released on Thursday, May 21, and this will cover Take-Two's fourth quarter and fiscal year 2026 results, because Take-Two's fiscal year ends March 31.

In addition to releasing its earnings details, Take-Two management will answer questions during a conference call that is set to begin May 21 at 1:30 PM PT / 4:30 PM ET. But should you get excited for a big GTA 6 reveal to come? In short, probably not--but you never know.

Will we learn more about GTA 6?

Everyone wants to know more about GTA 6--including fans, analysts, journalists, and other industry-observers--but these earnings events, and the Q&As that follow, are not known to be very fruitful from an information-disclosure perspective with regards to GTA 6. First and foremost, earnings briefings are aimed at investors and Wall Street, so they can be dry and numbers-focused.

Take-Two boss Strauss Zelnick often tells analysts asking questions specific to GTA 6 that he does not want to speak on behalf of Rockstar and would rather have the developer itself communicate with fans.

Zelnick has, on occasion, shared high-level details about GTA 6, however. During the latest quarterly call in February, Zelnick informed people that the marketing efforts for GTA 6 will begin this summer. That's not an earth-shattering announcement, but it is a material detail because Zelnick followed it up by saying Take-Two committing to kicking off marketing for GTA 6 meant that Take-Two and Rockstar had a high degree of confidence that the open-world game would launch on time. With people fearing yet another GTA 6 delay, that was seen as a positive piece of news.

It's possible the upcoming Take-Two earnings call will have new and interesting details about GTA 6, but history suggests it won't and that the real announcements of significance for players will come direct from Rockstar.

A third trailer for GTA 6 is something fans are waiting for, as are the more granular gameplay details, and information about what the game might offer for multiplayer support, among other things. There is no telling, however, when Rockstar might provide new details on GTA 6.

What happened last May?

On May 2, 2025, Take-Two and Rockstar announced that GTA 6 was delayed yet again and would arrive in May 2026. This announcement came a couple weeks before Take-Two released its Q4 earnings results on May 16 that year. There were no major GTA 6 announcements during that earnings report, however.

A few days later on May 6, 2025, Rockstar released GTA 6's second trailer and updated GTA 6's website with lots of new details about the open-world game. The May 2026 date for GTA 6 did not stick, as Rockstar later delayed the game again, this time to November 19, 2026.

That delay was announced during a Take-Two earnings briefing in November 2025, so there is precedent for Take-Two and Rockstar making big announcements about GTA 6 during earnings reports.

Whatever happens, we will bring you all the latest news on GTA 6 as it's announced. The game is set for release on November 19 for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, and a PC release is expected to follow. A Switch 2 version of the game is reportedly being tested, but fans shouldn't get their hopes up.
