The new trailer for Spider-Man: Brand New Day hit the internet this week, and it was a giant success, so much so that it surpassed GTA 6's latest record-breaking trailer.
For context, May 2025's GTA 6 trailer reached 475 million views in less than a day, while Brand New Day's trailer surpassed 500 million views in its first 24 hours. At the time, Rockstar said the GTA 6 trailer was the biggest debut for a trailer for anything ever, surpassing the 365 million views that Deadpool & Wolverine clocked in its first 24 hours.
The accounting for any trailer's views is not exact, as videos are hosted in various places. The Brand New Day trailer on Sony's own YouTube account has 14.8 million views. It was also hosted on the PlayStation YouTube page, where it has more than 10 million views.
The GTA 6 trailer mentioned above has 153 million views on Rockstar's YouTube page, while the first trailer from December 2023 has 275 million views on Rockstar's page. Clearly, Rockstar and Sony are counting views on multiple other channels in their reporting, but in any event, it seems GTA 6's trailer record has fallen.
Brand New Day will come out ahead of GTA 6, as it's set for release this July, with GTA 6 following in November, assuming the dates for the movie and the game hold.
Both are expected to be giant successes. For GTA 6, it's expected to sell more than 40 million copies and drive $3 billion in revenue in its first year. Box-office tracking for Brand New Day is not available yet, but it's expected to be a big success like the previous entries in the series.
