Like most other survival games on the market, Windrose starts out with your character having nothing to their name. In order to survive on your new deserted island, you need to scavenge resources around the beach and jungle to make a base and essential tools, gear, and items. While you won't have any issues with this for the first hour or so, you'll quickly run into an inventory space problem in Windrose.
The default inventory in Windrose is extremely limited, only giving you 16 slots of space (not including your character action panel). So, this begs the question: How do you increase your inventory space in Windrose?
Your inventory space in Windrose is mostly tied to what "Accessories" you have equipped on your character. If you open the inventory screen, you can see the Accessories tab in the middle of the screen, right below your armor items.
There are three Accessory slots, two for jewelry, including a ring and necklace, and one for a miscellaneous item. That miscellaneous item is the key to upgrading your inventory. You can insert a "backpack" item here, and this backpack is able to expand your inventory to give you more slots.
The first bag you can craft in Windrose is called the "Torn Sailcloth Bag," and it can be crafted at a standard Workbench. However, you have to wait until you've completed a few main story quests before it becomes available to craft.
Crafting the Torn Sailcloth Bag requires the following resources at a Workbench:
It's not a very intensive recipe, and you also don't need an upgraded level two Workbench to craft it; a level one station is all that's needed. The Torn Sailcloth Bag increases your inventory size by four extra slots, which isn't a huge amount, but anything is an upgrade.
If you want additional inventory slots, you'll need to craft a Sailor's Backpack. This is a more advanced version of the Torn Sailcloth Bag, and it increases your inventory by eight slots, four more than the Torn Sailcloth Bag.
The Sailor's Backpack can also be crafted at a Workbench, but you'll once again have to progress the main story in Windrose before you can craft it. Once you have it available, crafting the Sailor's Backpack requires the following resources:
Copper Ingots are obtained by smelting down Copper Ore at a Smelting Furnace, while Rough Hide can be obtained from sow, boar, goat, and other animals in Windrose.
Currently, there are no other known items that increase inventory space in Windrose, but we'll update this guide if more items are discovered.
Now that you have your expanded inventory, you can fill it with extra loot, such as healing items and gunpowder, both of which are crucial to your survival in Windrose.
