How To Respec In No Rest For The Wicked

No Rest for the Wicked is an ARPG that allows you to utilize a variety of builds based on your equipment, playstyle, and, most importantly, stats. As you level up by defeating enemies and completing quests, you'll be able to put points into different stats that you think will benefit your current build. Of course, as with any RPG, your build preferences could very well change over the course of the game.

Fortunately, No Rest for the Wicked does allow you to respec your stats, giving you a chance to reallocate your stats and create an entirely new build. However, you might have to wait quite a while before you're able to respec, and the price to do so can be steep.

Respec process in No Rest for the Wicked explained

To sum it up quickly, you can respec your stats in No Rest for the Wicked by visiting the Cerim Crucible, which is unlocked after you complete the quest "Spoken and Unspoken." In the Crucible, you can find a statue that allows you to pay one Fallen Ember for every 10 stat points you want to respec.

Naturally, the higher level you are in No Rest for the Wicked, the more stat points you'll have, so it will require more Fallen Embers. For this reason, it might not be prudent to bother respeccing if you're too high a level, as it can take hours to acquire that many Fallen Embers.

Instead, creating an entirely new character might be the way to go, as you can just use the build you had in mind with the new character. Lower level characters benefit more from the respeccing process, but you need to gain access to the process early on to take full advantage of it.

How to unlock the respec ability in No Rest for the Wicked

As we mentioned before, you can use the respec feature after unlocking the Crucible and using the statue found within. However, that's far easier said than done, as the Crucible is an entire piece of side content with its own challenges separate from the main quest.

To start, you need to track and complete the Spoken and Unspoken quest. You unlock this quest after completing "Servant of God," which will appear in your quest log after completing "Sacrament." Spoken and Unspoken can be started by talking to Roan, who's located in the central part of Sacrament.

It should be noted that if you completed this quest prior to the Crucible Update in No Rest for the Wicked, you'll have to complete it again. This allows all players to enter the Crucible in the way the developers intended.

After some dialogue and cutscenes, you'll open a portal to the Crucible, which you can think of as a roguelike game mode in No Rest for the Wicked. It features floors of enemies that you need to defeat in a single attempt to reach the end. Along the way, you'll acquire upgrades for your character and battle enemies and bosses that get harder the further you progress. Fortunately, the enemies in the Crucible are scaled to your current level, so you can participate at any time you want in No Rest for the Wicked.

While it's much harder than it sounds, the Crucible can be defeated with some practice and strong gear. However, during your run, you want to keep an eye out for an item called "Gloomseeds." These are a currency only found in the Crucible, and you need them if you want to respec. A single run through the Crucible likely won't yield enough Gloomseeds to respec, so you'll have to make a few runs to earn the necessary amount.

Speaking of which, after you reach the fifth floor of the Crucible and make it through, you'll meet an NPC named The Seneschal. The Seneschal sells a variety of upgrades for your character, but the one you want to pay attention to is called "Iron Corpus." Iron Corpus unlocks the respec feature, but you'll need 20 Gloomseeds to purchase it.

If you have that amount, buy the Iron Corpus and then make your way back to the beginning of the Crucible (either by finishing the run or dying). At the entrance to the Crucible, you'll see a statue that has blue-lit tree branches near it. Approach the statue, interact with it, and you'll be introduced to the respeccing process in No Rest for the Wicked.

Here, you can spend your Fallen Embers to respec stat points you've already allocated for your character. It costs one Fallen Ember for every 10 stat points you want to refund and spend again.

Depending on your character's level and your playtime in No Rest for the Wicked, you could have dozens of Fallen Embers or very few of them. Luckily, Fallen Embers can be acquired in a variety of ways, including as drops from enemies inside and outside the Crucible, as well as in chests.

If you decide to spend your Fallen Embers on a respec, then you can interact with the statue, choose to respec, and then reallocate your newly acquired stat points. You can respec as many times as you want in No Rest for the Wicked, but Fallen Embers are fairly difficult to come by, so you'll likely only have a few chances to respec during a single playthrough.
