Mega Evolution Is Coming Back To Pokemon TCG

Mega Evolved Pokemon are making their long-awaited return in the Pokemon Trading Card Game with the upcoming Mega Evolution expansion. Ahead of its arrival later this year, The Pokemon Company has shared a new trailer showcasing some of the exciting Pokemon and Trainer cards coming as part of the set.

The video, which you can watch below, offers a glimpse at a handful of new Mega Evolved Pokemon cards, including Mega Lucario ex and Mega Latias ex. The video also highlights some gorgeous new full art cards, as well as Supporter cards like Lillie and Wally.

According to the trailer, more details about the Mega Evolution expansion will be shared on July 10. In the meantime, you can read more about the set on the official Pokemon website.

That isn't the only new expansion coming to Pokemon TCG this year. The Scarlet & Violet--Black Bolt and Scarlet & Violet--White Flare sets will both launch on July 18. These are themed after the Pokemon Black and White video games and add more than 170 new cards inspired by Pokemon and characters from the Unova region.

A new expansion is also coming soon to Pokemon TCG Pocket. The Eevee Grove set goes live on June 26 and introduces more than 100 new cards to the mobile game, including an array of new Eevee evolution cards. The game is also adding a new Eevee-themed display board and binder cover to coincide with the expansion.

July is shaping up to be a busy month for Pokemon news, as a new Pokemon Presents broadcast will also air on July 22. No other details about the presentation have been announced as of yet, but it will presumably share more details on the series' next game, Pokemon Legends: Z-A, which launches for both Nintendo Switch and Switch 2 on October 16.
