One of the best Call of Duty games in recent times, 2019's Call of Duty: Modern Warfare from developer Infinity Ward, is out now on Xbox Game Pass. The game is available for the Premium and Ultimate tiers of Game Pass, as well as PC Game Pass.
Modern Warfare scored generally positive review scores upon release and was a blockbuster success in terms of sales. The campaign was a bright spot for many, telling another globe-trotting story and kicking off a new Modern Warfare series following the popular games earlier in the 2000s.

When Microsoft bought Activision Blizzard and the Call of Duty franchise, many assumed Microsoft would stock the Game Pass library with Call of Duty games. That didn't happen, though, and today, Modern Warfare is just the third game released prior to the buyout to come to Game Pass, the previous two being Modern Warfare 2 (2022) and Modern Warfare 3 (2023).
Black Ops 6, meanwhile, was the first brand-new Call of Duty game to come to Game Pass at launch in 2024, with Black Ops 7 following in 2025.
2019's Modern Warfare sold more than 41 million copies, according to court filings from Activision found by Game File, and the publisher spent more than $640 million on production expenses during its lifetime.
In other Game Pass news, it's been reported that Microsoft is considering several drastic changes to the service under the leadership of Microsoft Gaming CEO Asha Sharma. Microsoft could debut a new tier of the service that only includes first-party games, the report said, with another possibility being that Microsoft no longer includes new Call of Duty games with Game Pass.
