REPO Monsters List: All Monster Behaviors And How To Avoid Them

REPO has amassed an impressive following since its debut on February 26. Less than two weeks from launch, it hit over 145,000 concurrent players. Now, after the release of the Monster update on October 30, REPO is bigger than ever--and that includes its roster of enemies.

In the horror co-op game, you're tasked with the simple ordeal of picking up valuable items across quite eerie locations and bringing them back safely to the starting point. When you hit your quota, you're all set to move on. But the monsters lurking in the shadows ensure that you never get too confident.

If you've been looking for a place to learn more about all REPO monsters, including the 10 new additions of the Monster update, this guide has you covered with details about behaviors, danger levels, and exactly how fearsome each of them is.

Gnomes are as annoying as they are dangerous.

Gnome

  • Danger level: 1
  • HP: 20
  • Attack: 10

The gnome will usually be in packs, and will target you as a group. When not actively targeting you, they'll be running around the map trying to destroy valuables. The key is to try and avoid them as much as possible, but you can also grab them and throw them against a solid surface to break them. Do this with force.

Also, while a Spewer is latched onto your face, your in-game voice will get deeper.

Spewer

  • Danger level: 1
  • HP: 65
  • Attack: 10

The Spewer excels at vomiting acid, which isn't great, but its secondary skill is worse, as it'll literally latch onto your face. When the latter happens, you'll randomly vomit anything and anyone in front of you. The best countermeasure is to try to dodge the monster's jumps and vomit, but you can also grab and throw them against a hard surface to deal damage. You may need two people to do this, however, depending on your current strength.

This can't be good.

Bella

  • Danger level: 1
  • HP: 200
  • Attack: 5

There are very few things as terrifying as the sound of a tricycle when you're alone in a dark room. Bella is a ghost that will simply bike around and, as long as you don't get into contact with them, they'll leave you alone. If you start hearing a bell, it means you're way too close.

Anywhere but the face.

Tick

  • Danger level: 1
  • HP: 10, although it drains HP
  • Attack: 10

The Tick might sound similar to the Spewer at first, but the key difference is that, if the monster manages to latch onto your face, they'll gradually drain health from you. If you have more than 100 HP, you'll be safe, as that's the maximum amount that Tick can draw from you. Try to stay away from them upon sight.

Don't let their looks deceive you.

Apex Predator

  • Danger level: 1
  • HP: 150
  • Attack: 10

The adorable Apex Predator will run around and follow you and your teammates while you gather valuables. Yes, they look adorable, but the key is to ignore them completely. If you and the Apex Predator come into contact, they'll go aggro and start doing damage quickly.

Watch out!

Peeper

  • Danger level: 1
  • HP: 30
  • Attack: 2 per hit, although it's continuous

If a Peeper spots you, they'll automatically lock you into a continuous attack. To break away from it, you need to use any object at hand to block the line of sight--meaning, something that gets in the way of your own view of the monster. Always make sure to check out the ceiling before entering a room.

Avert your eyes.

Shadow Child

  • Danger level: 1
  • HP: 150
  • Attack: 30

The Shadow Child is one of the most frightening monsters in REPO. Thankfully, averting your eyes is also the way of avoiding getting pulled by the monster, an action that will cause damage and probably a few nightmares.

Wait, no cake?

Birthday Boy

  • Danger level: 1
  • HP: 150
  • Attack: 10

The best way of knowing if the Birthday Boy is nearby is by spotting balloons. The key here is not to pop them--if you do, the enemy will appear and charge at you. Be careful when searching through rooms, especially if you're carrying valuables that may be obfuscating your line of sight.

Yes, you can pet the dog, but at what cost?

Elsa

  • Danger level: 1
  • HP: 600
  • Attack: 15

Elsa is a cute pup that will immediately ask for pets. Ignore them for long enough, and they'll transform into a muscular version of themself to attack you. You don't want that to happen. Opposite to the strategy with the Apex Predator, it's best to take the time and pet Elsa until they leave and start roaming around the room again to avoid the attacks.

An otherworldly sighting.

Mentalist

  • Danger level: 2
  • HP: 150
  • Attack: 50

The Mentalist does not seem to be from this world, and that's reflected in their strange attack patterns. When you're spotted, the Mentalist creates a gravity field of sorts, where you'll be subtly stunned. Once the field turns red, the monster will slam you toward the ground. If a teammate is nearby, the best course of action is to have them grab you and pull you outside the field. Killing them is tricky without weapons, so it's best to try and avoid becoming trapped inside the gravity field in the first place.

Wind's howling.

Bowtie

  • Danger level: 2
  • HP: 200
  • Attack: 5

The Bowtie may seem charismatic at a distance, but you should be careful when encountering one. When you're spotted, they'll blow air in hopes of forcing a collision against an object or hard surface. It's not a direct hit, but it can definitely cause some damage. You'll likely need weapons to kill the enemy, unless you've accrued quite a few strength upgrades.

The Headgrab is one of the enemies introduced in the Monsters update.

Headgrab

  • Danger level: 2
  • HP: 150
  • Attack: 5 to 15, depending on the attack

The Headgrab can attack you with their claws and massive feet, but as their name implies, they will also grab the head of a fallen teammate and wear them, which increases their overall speed. If this happens and you get the chance, remove the head to stun them. If you have any weapons, that will be your moment to counterattack.

They fly?!

Oogly

  • Danger level: 2
  • HP: 200
  • Attack: 4 as base

The Oogly is a flying enemy, and I don't need to tell you how annoying that trait is in a video game. In REPO, if the monster spots you, they'll try and grab you to cause damage in mid-air. The best way to avoid this is to hide underneath objects or make a run from it entirely.

The heart doesn't indicate that this monster is harmless.

Heart Hugger

  • Danger level: 2
  • HP: 300
  • Attack: 30 as base

Similar to the Peeper, the Heart Hugger will try to pull you toward them upon sighting you. This is done by coming into contact with a pink cloud of spores. If you're trapped in it, you'll receive damage in a series of quick hits that can be fatal. Try to avoid the spores, and if you have any teammates nearby, pray that they're quick to pull you out if you are unable to.

Don't take a gamble with this one.

Gambit

  • Danger level: 2
  • HP: 150
  • Attack: Has different effects depending on color

Once the Gambit spots you, they'll try to grab you. If successful, you'll be forced to endure a random outcome based on a spin wheel. There are different effects here: Green grants you health, red reduces it, white restores it fully, and black reduces it to 1 HP. While not fatal, the situation will be ride, to say the least. If you see yellow, you'll get money instead. Try to use weapons if you have them to prevent the wheel from spinning. Or take your chance.

The key is in the name.

Banger

  • Danger level: 2
  • HP: 50
  • Attack: Depends on the attack

The presence of skulls in a game like REPO is a given, but the Banger monster is quite distinct. The enemy appears in a group of three, and in essence, the skulls will prepare to explode upon detecting you. It takes around 15 seconds for the explosion to take place, which may or may not be enough time to run. The key here is to either run or be smart and throw them somewhere far. If you encounter large objects that can block the explosion, that's a sign of a good throwing spot.

Yes chef.

Chef

  • Danger level: 2
  • HP: 150
  • Attack: 10

The cute-looking frog is knife-savvy and won't think twice about using them when you're spotted. As dangerous as the monster is, there is a brief window that you can use to your advantage, as the Chef always charges before leaping toward you. This makes for a great opportunity to try and use the environment to escape their range. Or even better, if there are pits or traps nearby, you can bait the monster into falling inside.

Hope you didn't leave any dangerous valuables around.

Rugrat

  • Danger level: 2
  • HP: 150
  • Attack: Around 10 to 225

The Rugrat is a menace. When you're spotted, this monster will grab the nearest valuable they can find and throw it at you. The best way to deal with them is to either run to escape the range of the throw or to grab all nearby valuables before they do.

If there's one enemy that loves to move around erratically, that's the Animal.

Animal

  • Danger level: 2
  • HP: 150
  • Attack: 2

The Animal is a tough monster to contend with. Their behavior is the classic chase once you're detected, but rather than, say, pulling you in, the Animal charges directly against you. They're also likely to start moving in different directions afterward, which is a nuisance. You'll need at least one other person to be able to hold and throw them against a solid surface, as they're prone to breaking free.

What's up?

Upscream

  • Danger level: 2
  • HP: 50
  • Attack: 10

The Upscream's main attack is easy to guess by the name alone, as they have a knack for screaming at your face. Said scream is so potent that it'll send you flying away. Try to avoid them as much as possible by hiding in tall places or by simply making a run for it if you don't have any weapons on you.

An invisible monster is so cliché, and yet...

Hidden

  • Danger level: 2
  • HP: 100
  • Attack: None

Of course there's an invisible monster in REPO. In order to know they're around, keep an eye out for footsteps, as well as breath, which can sometimes be seen coming from walls. When you're detected, the Hidden will try to grab you to take you around the map. You'll need either a weapon or a ton of strength to take the monster down. If you're lucky and you spot them before they do, you can try to crouch underneath an item to stay undetected.

The Headman is a big fan of jump scares.

Headman

  • Danger level: 3
  • HP: 250
  • Attack: 50

The Headman is a floating head that usually roams around halls and rooms searching for their next target. When you're spotted, they'll start a chase to try and bite you. The best way to avoid them is to have them lose sight of you. Or, in the instance that the monster targets a teammate, use that opportunity to make a run for it. Just make sure to actually try to rescue your fallen friend afterward.

But doctor...

Clown

  • Danger level: 3
  • HP: 250
  • Attack: 60 to 100, depending on the attack

The Clown isn't a regular monster. Using the rod on their forehead, they can attack you with a laser beam, or simply try and kick you with enough force to send you flying and cause a collision. If you spot them out in the wild, make a run for it--it's best to avoid them before they can use the laser beam.

All the pretty faces.

Cleanup Crew

  • Danger level: 3
  • HP: 350
  • Attack: 60 to 100, depending on the attack

The Cleanup Crew is a rad name for a monster, but they present a massive threat. They're prone to detaching their head and using it as an explosive. It is possible to grab said head and throw it somewhere else, but if you can't, the monster is slow enough for you to make a swift escape.

Not quite a knight in shining armor.

Trudge

  • Danger level: 3
  • HP: 500
  • Attack: 35 to 100, depending on the attack

The Trudge can deal a ton of damage using their main weapon attached to their arm. Sadly, hiding underneath an object isn't an option, as they'll use the skull on one of their tentacles to attack you. Thankfully, all that armor makes them quite slow, so escaping is fairly easy if there's enough distance between you two.

I guess we aren't making that quota after all.

Robe

  • Danger level: 3
  • HP: 250
  • Attack: 50 to 100, depending on whether they're crouched or standing

The Robe is an expert in sneaking up on players in REPO, as proven by the screenshot above. The best way to avoid them is to make a run for it while avoiding direct eye contact, as the latter will empower them and make them faster. Unless you have a ton of strength or, better yet, a weapon, the best course of action is to simply run away.

The Huntsman's behavior is quite distinct compared to the rest.

Huntsman

  • Danger level: 3
  • HP: 250
  • Attack: 100

The Huntsman is unable to see, which means they will try to pick up sounds instead. You need to approach these encounters as if you were playing a stealth game--crouch when possible and avoid sprinting near them. If you're playing with a loud person, make sure to notify them about the monster's presence immediately.

The pumpkin head for Halloween was a nice touch.

Reaper

  • Danger level: 3
  • HP: 250
  • Attack: 10

The Reaper is unable to hear sounds, which means they'll rely entirely on what they're able to see. If they spot you, the monster will start swinging their arms at a fast pace, dealing tons of damage. If you're unable to stay undetected, try to tunnel the monster by using objects that allow you to slide down and back up to the other side.

Sleep paralysis-esque.

Loom

  • Danger level: 3
  • HP: 500
  • Attack: 100

The Loom is one of the most terrifying additions of the Monsters update. If you see floating hands on each side of your screen, it means the Loom is nearby, and you're now their target. From that moment on, they'll start a slow chase. If you've seen the movie It Follows, you know what to do--keep on moving until you're face. Of course, there's a chance that they'll start chasing you again. If caught, they'll clap their hands with you in the center of them.

Those are all the monsters available in REPO thus far. Best of luck meeting your quota!
