Super Mario Galaxy Nintendo Switch Collection Preorders Are Live

Preorders for the Super Mario Galaxy collection for Nintendo Switch and Switch 2 are starting to go live at major retailers. Priced at $70, Super Mario Galaxy + Super Mario Galaxy 2 launches October 2 in physical and digital formats. Nintendo announced the enhanced editions of the beloved Wii games during the latest Nintendo Direct.

A pair of Super Mario Galaxy Amiibo figures were also revealed, though these won't be available until April 2026, the same month The Super Mario Galaxy Movie premieres. Fans can preorder the Mario and Luma Amiibo as well as the Rosalina and Lumas Amiibo for $40 each at Walmart.

The first Galaxy game was previously featured in the Super Mario 3D All-Stars Collection, which has been out of print for years and is no longer sold on the eShop. This is the first time Super Mario Galaxy 2 will be playable on Nintendo's modern hardware.

In addition to being part of Super Mario's 40th Anniversary celebrations, the collection helps these games reach new players before The Super Mario Galaxy Movie premieres in theaters next April. As mentioned, Nintendo is also releasing two Amiibo figures featuring Mario and Rosalina (and Lumas, of course). The Amiibo won't be available when the collection launches; instead, Nintendo is saving the new figures for April 2, 2026.
