A screenshot supposedly from Assassin's Creed Invictus made the rounds earlier this week, ultimately leading to Ubisoft actually commenting on the validity of the picture. The official Assassin's Creed account on X replied to the leaker who goes by j0nathan: "Nice try... This might have started as an image from our private test, but it's been heavily altered (most probably with AI). Not great to spread misinformation."
Ubisoft added that it will officially reveal more info about Codename Invictus "when the time is right." The project is focused on PvP multiplayer, with For Honor veterans at Ubisoft Montreal working on the game. Almost two years ago, j0nathan relayed that Invictus was inspired by Fall Guys and supported up to 16 players.
Earlier this year, another Assassin's Creed multiplayer game called League was reportedly canceled at Ubisoft Annecy. The project supposedly started as DLC for Assassin's Creed Shadows before spinning off into a standalone title.
Overall, the Assassin's Creed series is now overseen by Vantage Studios. The subsidiary is also in control of the Far Cry and Rainbow Six franchises. This was part of a larger restructure at Ubisoft earlier this year.
Next up for the stabby stealth series is Assassin's Creed: Black Flag Resynced, coming out July 9 on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S. The pirate adventure has been totally rebuilt in Ubisoft Anvil. It's not planned to release on Switch 2, at least currently. Then, later this year, there's an unexpected original Assassin's Creed stage show called Heredis that will premiere in Montreal this December.
