It’s the question on everyone’s lips: when is the next Escape From Tarkov wipe? Well, with the game’s graduation to 1.0, EFT has moved on from the six monthly wipe schedule to a seasonal model--leaving many in the dark about what’s actually next.
Gone are the days where all PvP players lose their stash and have to fight it out on Ground Zero with pistols and MP5s--now players will have the option to start again, this time on a secondary character with new seasonal objectives and modifiers.
But how are Escape From Tarkov seasons actually going to work and will they look similar to wipes? Here’s everything you need to know, including when the next EFT wipe will be.
The last Escape From Tarkov wipe took place on November 15, 2025--the same time that the game celebrated the 1.0 release and the introduction of the seasonal model.
This milestone meant that wipes as we know them are a thing of the past. Instead of the game wiping every six months (or there abouts), characters are now persistent in both PvP and PvP--allowing players to complete the game at their own pace without the threat of a wipe looming over them.
However, to help keep the game fresh, EFT is introducing seasons, where players can choose to play as a new character--essentially like a wipe--in a different queue.
“It will be a separate realm for those who want to experience all of the wipe related stuff - starting from scratch with everybody progress[ing] through it,” Battlestate Games’ COO Nikita Buyanov says on X.
However seasons will operate differently from traditional wipes - they’ll have “unique modifiers” apparently, like no flea or an open flea, seasonal quests, and RPG-like buffs and debuffs.
In essence, seasons will still operate like wipes--everyone who participates will start from scratch again without any gear, but there’ll be different things to factor in, and perhaps longer queue times.
We don’t know when the first Escape From Tarkov season will launch. However, given wipes operated every six months or so, we should expect the first season to launch around June 2026, especially since we know BSG is targeting the summer.
It’s unlikely that we’ll get the same level of event build up to a new season like we did with wipes due to the persistent nature of the main characters. With that in mind, we’d avoid linking new in-game events to the launch of a new wipe or season.
That’s all we know at the moment, but we’ll update this guide as soon as we know more from BSG.
